I'll agree that it might be perceptual bias. I have never met the man in person, don't know anyone who has. My opinions about him are based partly on how he treats people in public forums, partly on the coherency of his message, and partly on other people I HAVE known who behave in similar manners. I'll agree that there might be some places where saying that someone 'can't handle it' isn't meant to be disparaging in anyway. (Nowhere I've ever been, but there are lots of places I've never been.) I'll even agree that he might not have intended it as an insult. I actually don't think he did. I think, rather, that he's so totally self absorbed that it wouldn't occur to him to think about how someone else might interpret his remarks. Why would he? His way of looking at things is the only way that matters.

(I guess even if it's a perceptual bias, it could still be accurate.)

Fortunately, we have more than 2 options.

I think he started out OK but should his ignorance at the end I f that statement. I think the statement was 'some are strong and can handle it, but some can't handle it". That implies those with PTSD are week. The conjunctions are key.

The worst thing you can do to someone with PTSD is to be dismissive of their struggle, to tell them that others can handle it, but they are strong. Whether he Intended to be mean or not, it is reckless and ignorant. There are people struggling with shame and suicidal thoughts that will hear that.
