This post may be better suited in the employment section, or maybe here in the discussion is where it belongs. I leave this up to the moderators.

All my life I have been getting told "No!" not necessarily ALL the time. What I am talking about is that because I look and act and do things or in someways can do them outside of the expectations of others. For example:

I have been pulled off customer service completely and am being almost forced to clean the area in which customers of the deli and other areas of the store sit above the deli. I am almost regretting that fact that I took a pay cut to get a few more hours (40 hours a week) which has been reduced back to 35 hours with an earlier start time. (I am to clock in at 7 a.m. when I agreed to switch to the deli, I was starting two hours later and working until 6 p.m. I knew that things were changing for the worst when my schedule changed to 7 a.m.

I have given that company almost 6 years and since my second week with the company, have been treated like garbage. (I feel under appreciated) If it weren't for the fact that this job is my only source of income, I would have given a verbal followed by a written two week notice.

Earlier today, I felt as though i had a choke chain with a leash attached and the leash was being pulled deliberately. I am not liking this situation. I also noticed that I feel like I am unfairly having to deal with a much higher standard than some of my co-workers whom some of which have more seniority that I because their time with the company and previous experience.

While I am considering requesting some "Reasonable Accommodations" I suspect that those would be ignored which would give me legal grounds, but do I want to waste another year or more with this company? I Know I don't. I took a stand and put my immediate supervisor on notice explaining that I am at least thinking about quitting. I suspect that Monday may or may not resume the conversation. Time will tell. In the meantime I am going to consider some options which I will explain further.

I don't know why some companies treat their employees poorly, when employees are the most important part of their success. Especially when those employees have worked hard and been loyal to the company.

My first hope is that your company would be reasonable and fair. If they won't, then I'm glad you have some other options to consider.

Good luck.
