Hey Red
It's true, as they say, you can trigger yourself into a panic attack. It know it's hard and this may sound simple but it can work if you try it. First, try to focus on something other than what is making you anxious. Try to relax, if you really can't sleep, get up go read, watch tv, something. Trying to force yourself to sleep just never works. Try to relax and take several deep, regular breaths. Sit in a chair, relax, inhale by lowering your diaphram. You can do this by allowing your stomach to move outward. This will allow you to take a much large breath and fill the lungs more completely. If you can do that and perhaps need to do it several times, I can almost guarantee that you'll feel more relaxed and less stressed. It can take a little practice, but I find it helps me when I feel anxious and has helped avert a number of panic attacks. Best of luck Mate.
