That article is over a year old, but I chose that one because it's from Fox News and I'm thinking it has more credibility with conservatives. I believe that President Trump may have played around with this topic some since then, but he does that, right? Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and there's a birth certificate to prove it. (BTW, that article goes into a bit of the history of this "issue", including Trump's attempt to say that the Clinton campaign was responsible for starting this controversy. Also not true.)

FYI- What people rarely understand is that the POTUS cannot touch, LEGALLY SSI or SSDI. It takes a majority in Senate and Congress, and even then in many instances such interference is illegal. So if the federale's shutdown, there is no plausible reason for it to affect anyone's disability payments.
As for the feds "shutting down", it really does not affect the deficit any, it is only a toy to play with people's lives, making people fearful of "what might happen in a worse case scenario", a scenario that has a one in 25 million chance of ever happening.
Stuff I learned as a area & regional GOP delegate over the years.

I may be a weirdo here, but I’m glad that the dems are holding out for DACA!!!! I just can’t see 800,000 people being rounded up like cattle and thrown out of our country! Trump agreed if a bipartisan bill was put in front of him, that he’d sign it. It was, he didn’t, so who is the petulant child in all of this???????

Just heard that the tickets for big presidential gala tonight cost between $100,000 and 250,000. Personally I think it’s disgusting, but I’m also wondering...... Just exactly who gets the money from these tickets?????

It just makes no sense to me to roll all this into one messy ball. DACA and funding the government aren't the same conversation. That should be two separate discussing and we should know how our "representatives" vote each them, individually.

And, in my universe, you figure out what's essential first, then come up with a way to pay for it. Then, if you have money left, you figure out how you're going to use THAT. You don't say, "I think I'll only work part time this year." (Give a tax cut to the rich.) Then decide not to pay the light bill. These people, and the system, are nuts!

@scout86 I agree with you to a point. I think that the reason that the dems are holding out and really pushing for DACA!!!!!!! Who in their right mind would believe that Trump would really stick to allowing the people (DACA) to stay on our country knowing how he feels about immigration?!?!?! The dems want solid proof that the DACA people can stay, not a well work on this later shit!!!!!

I think the dems want this cemented in stone before agreeing to anything. That would be my thought....
