When we no longer had a Democratic president?

(This is actually kind of a "thing" with the Republican...
Funny you mention that. Trump tried to ban Muslims from coming to the US, but everybody had a fit. "That's racist!" Yet Obama did the very same thing and everyone applauded his efforts. Trump is under fire for the deportations that are conducted. Yet in the days of Obama MORE people were deported, and that was okey dokey. Something seems wrong about that to me. If a democrat does it, it's ok. If a republican does it, it's not ok.

There is some truth to that Do numbers back Trump's deportation rhetoric? Take a look

But for goodness sake stop giving either president more credit than they deserve. It is easy to give a president more credit than they are due for the economy, crime or deportation numbers. We blame the senate when a president we like can't get something done, but fail to give the senate credit when they do something we like and falsely give the president praise. The reverse goes as well. What Trump is responsible for(good or bad) is mostly thing other presidents wouldn't dare abuse there power to get done.Bully tactics even bad presidents were morally above.

Frankly, this is why I am so sick of the 2 party system every time the party whose guy is in office switches I hear the same things over and over.

If it was a republican candidate, the democrats make the same statements that the republicans made when a democrat was in office. Round and round it goes, new POTUS same song and dance by both parties. Obama did a lot of the same things Bush did. Bush did a lot of the same things Clinton did.

The only difference is this current administration is scarier and more unpredictable than the former status quo with had during the Clinton/Bush?Obama era. I was a kid during Regan so can't really comment there. I am just sick of party loyalty and people who refuse to see what a scumbag their guy is just because he belongs to the "right " party.

I will vote any party if I think the person is the right man for the job but it seems to me, more than ever, we need a 3rd party because the right vs left is tearing this country apart.

@Fadeaway I agree with you to a point. With the exception that THIS president is scary to a point that he’s destroying the country, and I believe he’s an autocrat that doesn’t believe in the constitution.

The way I understood Obama’s deportations was that people that had a record or broke any law were deported. Under Trump they are deporting anyone and everyone. People that are here illegally, yet have been paying taxes into our system, yet they would never be able to draw from. They are deporting children, people that have been here for decades with no record and have never broken a law. This is the major difference between all the previous presidents and Trump.

It’s as if Trump is “cleansing” the country of misfits to make it what he seems it should be. I’m being as polite as I can be here...

My problems with the box of food proposal are that a) a good number of people have a peanut allergy, so it would be a waste of peanut butter, and b) canned fruits and vegetables are basically empty calories. Frozen is the most nutritional and is not much more expensive than canned. And it removes choice, which is dehumanizing. And everyone should be able to have access to fresh fruit.

Okay, running and ducking now.

I go to a food bank, as well as receive food stamps. The things I get at the food bank have improved since local stores contracted with them. I get a lot of meat, the meat that was half price and didn't sell. I get canned stuff which I hardly ever use. I either give it to others in the parking lot, or donate it back. My son has a life-threatening allergy to peanuts and peas, so there goes a lot of what we get. We refuse the cakes and pies since we are diabetic. I bring in fresh produce that I grow for the food bank, and eggs, if I have extras. I would hate to have to get a box of food I can't use instead of being able to shop sales, and buy "ugly" produce. We don't eat a lot of processed food, so we would not benefit from that. It strikes me as odd that I can buy candy and pop with food stamps. That's not food.
