The average (non-military, non-law enforcement) citizen is not going to use their gun effectively in the home invasion scenario. They are statistically more likely to be injured or lose their weapon.

How do you know that? Especially with the training I am advising should be manitory to conceal carry? Non-law enforcement with law enforcement type training. It is possible to defend yourself with a gun and take down an assalant, keep your head, be a great shot, and survive with the right training. It is possible.

Being forced to always be sure I'm in armed ballasitic clothing is a bit out there in my opinion. Proper training vs always wearing baslistic clothing. I'll take the training (and pay for it).

My take on the Second Amendment: It was never intended to permit mass slaughter. When the Constitution was written more than 200 years ago, the framers' goal was not to allow Americans to terrorize their communities, nor could they have imagined the weapons now available. The Supreme Court has upheld reasonable restrictions on gun ownership, but the NRA and the firearms industry continue to invoke the Second Amendment to stall action on gun violence.

One thing that is incredibly stunning to me, is how many times people expressed concerns that the shooter would shoot up a school.

It’s now coming out that it’s beleived he even called 911 on himself, expressing concerns about himself... and no one did anything. Yikes.

At some point, I think accountability for the law enforcement agencies involved might be worth considering. We can have all the measures on the books in the world, but if no one is willing to take action to help a struggling teen giving off every red flag possible, none of it will make any difference.

@Justmehere Agreed! There shear number of times the police were called out to his home for abusing his mother and brother alone. So many opportunities for him to get help, years and years ago, all missed.

I don’t know how accurate this article is, but I have heard on the news that between the school, law enforcement, mental health authorities and other agencies were notified of this kids behavior 39 times through tout the yrs.. The system let this kid down and they let down the 17 killed, the wounded, the community, the state and the nation. I don’t know who to be more pissed at for letting this happen. If someone had just really listened and paid attention maybe this wouldn’t have happened.

I think AR15's and semi auto rifles need their own separate age category and it needs to be higher than 21. At 21 I was just coming home and starting to drink as a complete belligerent dumb asshole. I think the age limit for semi auto rifles should be 25.

I think more corporations need to stop backing the NRA. We need to put more pressure on the NRA and let them know that they don’t run the government when it comes to guns and gun laws....

I think 17-20 corps have already stopped backing them. It’s a good start but we need more!!!!!,

I think we need to find a balance and not be completely against one another. We need to come to agreements and not let our emotions have us at each others throats when neither of us were even involved to the shooting an I still don't believe it was even legit to be honest. I’ve seen the Robbie Parker video, and what I saw was someone grieving. Just because he smiled doesn’t mean he’s fake. People grieve in their own way. I knew a mother and father who had just lost their 15 yr old son to CF. It was his wake at their home. They were gracious, smiling and laughing with people..... should this make them bad parents, or people who understood death and life?????????
