For all our vets, I wanted to honor you and express my gratefulness.

Especially for those here on this forum, I know what you gave up and what you suffer, that it is tremendous and thank you for keeping me and my country safe and free. Without you, I would have much less. You're the best.

Thank you, all those who've served honorably in our Armed Forces. I want to especially thank those on this forum, who may still be struggling with the ill effects of that service. Those of us who've benefited from your courage and selflessness remember you.

Today it is Armistice Day in the UK, and for some reason this poem came to mind.

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and your

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause

For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours
And yours.

It was actually written by Leo Marks, when he heard of the death of his girlfriend in a plane crash in Canada. He was, at the age of 22 was in charge of all the SOE agent codes and cyphers. He gave this poem to Violette, one of the secret agents of second world war. He promised to tell her who wrote it on her return, unfortunately she never did return to find out.

Her story was made into a film called "Carve Her Name With Pride" You can read her story at the following web site.

Thank you amethist, I was thinking the same, having to struggle so hard to live sometimes. But were it not for everyone here and always who've fought for the freedom that any of us have, I wouldn't have that choice.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul.

I'm looking right now at my photo of my great grandfather, sitting on a cannon somewhere in Tunisia in WWI. He's wearing puttees and that shallow brimmed helmet. Then there's the photo of Uncle Malcolm, who died last year. He'd gotten back safely, somehow, from Korea and Vietnam as a career Marine. There are others I have up, too, and appreciate every single one so much for what they did- my 2X grgrandfather who had his arm shot to pieces at Gettyburg, my husband's father who brought back shrapnel in his body from WW2, a couple Revolutionary War graves. I know everyone has this sort of wall, even if figuratively, and it does represent all of them in the end.

Thank You so much.

With respect,

Anni

To all those in the military, past or present, thank you for your sacrifice and service.

To all military families, thank you for your sacrifice and service.

To my husband and both my grandfathers, thank you, I'm so proud of you for serving.

Thank You

To all who have served a heart felt thank you! Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your families sacrifices! You are all hero's in my book!

Thanks to all that served. In my family my biological dad (WWII), my step Dad (WWII), and all 3 of my brothers (Vietnam) served.

Thanks for starting this thread StressyJen. I'd like to thank all who have served in our military too. You men and women have given us our freedom. There are many in other parts of the world who are now safe because of your service too. There are no words for me to express how grateful I am for what you have sacrificed for the good of many. Thanks you seems to small. May God bless you!

yes, i thought of all the veterans & soldiers today who may be suffering with PTSD, and prayed that they get the help they need. I also prayed that there will someday be no need for their heroism, and there will be peace in the world. I guess it starts with each one of us, having peace and love in our heart.
thanks to all that have served and sacrificed.

To those who served I am thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your sacrifice. For all of the branches of Military Navy, Army, Marines, and Airforce I wish those of you who have served, or are even currently serving, the best for you and your families. I would gladly stand with anyone of you and give you the shirt off my back if you needed it. Without you I would never have the freedoms I have to live the way I want and practice any religion I want. Without you I wouldn't be able to lay my head down at night and sleep in peace knowing that when I wake I will still live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. I hope this day and the rest that follow are filled with peace for your mind and body. I cannot express my sincere gratitude properly enough with just simple words but I can say this, I will never forget the men and women who have fought for and died for this beautiful country I live in. Thank you.
