Veterans Second Amendment Rights

I just saw a post somewhere that was made about veterans (with ptsd) losing their second amendment rights and decided to google:

"veterans second amendment rights".

Well this is all news to me, guess i ought to pay more attention. If this subject has been posted before my apologies.

There are 2 sides to every story. Every time I heard about something like this it was from someone saying "my friends cousins sisters best friends dog" or something like that. It was never first hand and it never sounded like a complete story. I do have 1 friend that said his mom is signed for his guns, but he has blackouts where he does t know what he did for a few hours. I'm not saying it's not something to look in to and keep an eye on, but don't jump in without knowing all the facts.

It had something to do with if you're under treatment for any mental issues AND you are deemed a threat to yourself or others, the police can be advised and they can take your weapons, supposedly..thats the way i understand it. Not sure if thats correct or not, as I don't deal with the VA anyhow.

I follow this closely as it is of most importance to me. Thus far it is only illegal if you are 100% Schedular. That being because there is descriptive language in it's description of being "incompetant". I do, however expect them to make moves to add specific language to include PTSD. And it will be interesting to see just how far down the percentage list the cutoff will occur. 50%? 70%?

100% IU doesn't apply. Like I'm 70% for PTSD, described as "severe, chronic" and still have my 2nd amend rights. I expect that to go away as the war intensifies. Too bad, they'll lose a hell of a fighting force as we are already "stoked up".

Don't go burying em' out in the desert yet. But do learn how to if you ever need to. I also expect there to eventually be an ammo shortage. Either by the fed outlawing it or folks stocking up.

Grim enough?

P.S. If you have the misfortune to have a doctor or a judge label you with the insane tag, that would do it as well.

Eh, f*ck em all. These days you speak the truth, someone wants to murder your ass for telling things right.
They force everyone to live in fear, fear of losing this fear of losing that. f*ck them. There may be fear but
find truth and speak your truth despite it.

I got C.I.A sympathizers telling me, "Many thanks! Your comments have been noted."
IDGAF.

We fight for the rights and come home to have them stripped away, f*cking shame this Country is.
Should be flying all these flags upside-f*cking-down.
Orchestrated division. Keep everyone focus on their brothers & sisters rather then the ones getting away
with Trillions that magically "disappear" into thin air. *poof*

Oh look honey I prefer to listen to this guy's bullshit, rather then that ones.
Yes I agree, John. Some people may read wording that includes so much swearing as foolish or immature, and you know what?
Their the same ones living an ass backwards lie.
The Big ass American dream of smoke and mirrors.
Wake em up.

Insane is continuing to go along with the agenda.

This has been on the law books since the passing of the 1968 Gun Control Act. There is a section about being "adjudicated as mentally defective". THis is also asked on the 4473 FFL paperwork that you fill out when purchasing a new weapon. It's question 11 - f "Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective (which includes a determination by a court, board, commission, or other lawful authority that you are a danger to yourself or to others or are incompetent to manage your own affairs) OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?"

For vets concerns. If you have had a judgement like a BVA hearing and it was deemed that you have a mental disorder and the judgement / doctors have stated that you cannot handle yourself or your own affairs then you are prohibited in owning a firearm.

Also, on SECTION IX - COMPETENCY BVA DBQ questionnaire, question 9 asks "IS THE VETERAN CAPABLE OF MANAGING HIS OR HER FINANCIAL AFFAIRS?" if it's a no then this is the keyword that you will likely lose your second amendment rights. During my C&P I was asked if I handle my own finances. I simply stated "yes" I pay all the household bills.

I have heard some horror stories of friends brothers cousin lost all his guns. There is also a letter floating around the web where the VA mailed to a vet and said something like he had to give up his guns. The thing is, I don't know his entire story on why he had too.

Now...If you are rated at 100% PTSD then it's very likely your guns will go bye-bye.

Total occupational and social impairment, due to such symptoms as: gross impairment in thought process or communication; persistent delusions or hallucinations; grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger of hurting self or others; intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living (including maintenance of minimal personal hygiene); disorientation to time or place; memory loss for names of close relatives, own occupation, or own name …………………..100%

Underlined and bold you see where those buzzwords indicate the inability to handle your own affairs. That means you can't brush your teeth or pay your own bills...nor own a Glock.

But the VA is tricky. And the way a rating officer will rate you often doesn't make sense. For instance, I am rated at 70% for PTSD. My DBQ only looks like I should be rated in the 30-50 range. The RO took into considerations I have sleep issues and migraine headaches and lumped those in. Now, I was denied my claim for Migraines as there wasn't a service connection. But these are often a secondary condition of PTSD.

So you could accidentally get rated higher and possibly lose 2A rights. It's a long shot, but still possible I suppose.

Well I have an NSA case number so we'll see whats up.

Also, on the NSA website whats to see? Oh just the OPM same guys who sent me the letter saying how all my info was hacked by the Chinese. You know... no big deal or nothing.

I am rated at 70 percent as well. And am not incompetent. In fact I shoot fairly accurately.

Thanks for the info Grizz. Black, i still shoot straight, can land nav with a compass, protractor and map, and can still lay out a daisy chain. We ALL still can make the grass grow if these ignorant f*cks with agendas persist in their f*ckery with us and our nation. Just saying Bros. ;)

I'm at 70% as well and they asked me about finances. I told them that I handle all finances in my household and that seemed to end the conversation. The post I was referring to was on some news website in the comments section. It was really vague but it caught my eye and thought it be good to look into. Good info guys, thanks.

Good info and of interest to me as well. I go in a couple of months to renew my permit to carry. I'm kinda' on the fence as to whether I want to or not. On the one hand I want to just for what I see as a sharp rise in crime and terrorism in our country. On the other hand I don't carry often anymore. Frankly I'm more concerned about being shot by a cop 15 times when he asks me if I'm carrying. With or without a weapon I don't feel safer. As far as taking my guns.....if they try that you'll be seeing me on the 6:00 o'clock news. Just sayin'.
