Vietnam Vet--handle Is Pleiku

Howdy Folks,

I'm a beat up old 4th division vet who worked rear area security and short range recon around Pleiku and Banmethout. All this despite an MOS of 72b. I'll tell you, after AIT I never saw another teletype.
Having some trouble now with the VA re: a PTSD claim. I stuffed it for years, covered it up with booze and psych meds 'til 9/11 when the symptoms broke through bigtime. Hired ALPHA to represent me, but I never hear from them or the VA. What the heck?

Pleiku, the sister site to this is the Combat PTSD site. You will get allot more VA advice over there, not to mention find people who know what an MOD Id is. Good to see you here, hope to see you over there.

Hi Pleiku

My call name is JarHed for obvious reasons. Many 'Nam vets, including me suffer from the effects of PTSD. The VA can be a quagmire of legal and mental garbage to handle. I would suggest getting in touch with your local DAV and ask for an appointment. Talk to someone there that will act as a representative for you with the VA. They know and work with them all the time. It's very helpful. It helped me in my dealing with the VA. I know it feels like it but you're not suffering alone, there are people that really want to help you. Don't over look the benefits that should be coming to you. It's a long road, you just don't have to travel it alone.
