Vietnam Veterans Sue Military Over Ptsd

Vietnam vets have always been treated like second class citizens it's the war that was swept under the carpet for years.
Any vet from any era should be treated with respect and looked after with all the support needed to be able to make claims in relation to combat service irrelevant of what their discharge papers say.

I wish them the best of luck. About 40 families of the deceased off of my ship have been trying to sue the Navy for the last 24 years. Still no luck there.

I concur...I hope this is the time they break through and win to set a new precedence for so many more. There are still guys/gals today quickly pushed out before they knew about PTSD, wounded warrior programs, etc. From my understanding, the costs or most of it, incurred by the med board process, before the VA kicks in, is on the Services. It is to their advantage to avoid these costs and save more cash for weapon systems.

If you think about it. They cannot be successful. We'll be hopping a mag lev train to bankruptcy.

Oh, sorry, forgot. We're already broke. Sshhhhhhh. Don't tell anybody.

It would seem to be more about being discharged under less than honorable conditions due to the fact that they had PTSD at that time. It's not only that PTSD wasn't accepted by either the military or VA at the time we got out from serving in 'Nam, it hadn't been accepted as a clinical condition by the psychiatrists till the '80. I too wish them luck. A bad conduct or dishonorable discharge can follow you your entire life. It's worse than being a felon.

I agree...which is why I wish them well! I was harassed by seniors but I already had earned retirement. I knew how to maneuver and retain honorable but it pissed me off that if they were willing to screw with me as hard as they did, then some of the less experienced folks were really getting the bull rush or shaft!

The AF wound up chopping six months off our enlistments because guys would do their in-country service and then come back and get into trouble and wind up with bad paper. Why, on earth, they didn't just adjust our training to conclude so that we would be discharged when we got home is a guess.
