I am feeling great for several reasons. Long post so you may not want to read further! ;)
Yesterday I was extremely anxious about calling to extend my UE benefits and about figuring out what new career I want. I decided to do the relaxation exercise to if and how fast I could bring the anxiety under control. I was able to do it almost immediately!!!! YAY, it worked!!!!!
Last night I reached out to a newer member of my Bible study group. At the end of study I told her I'd like to get to know her better. That was a huge step for me and she agreed! Turns out she is actually a new neighbor of mine too. They just finished building and moving into the house on the 5 acre parcel just up from ours! Small world in a small town ;o) We agreed to meet at the mailboxes this morning and go for a walk. We walked a very hilly 5 mile loop at a fast pace. She's a runner so is in much better shape than I am, but I was able to do it without too much huffing and puffing. Boy did it feel great!!!! We've agreed to walk at least once a week. I really like her, she's very open, genuine and intelligent. Wow I am so very happy about this. :D
Last but not least I made a couple of calls yesterday. One to hospice to see if they use therapy dog teams at all. Not only do they use them, they will also pay the $118 for our evaluation, certification and insurance! She put me in touch with the local Delta trainer and evaluator. Clancy is only 8 months old and has to be at least a year old before we can be evaluated which I already knew, but now I know who we will be working with and am excited about it!
The second call was to set up an informational interview with an in home senior care provider. I've been researching and working with my T trying to figure out what new "career" I want. When I came across the in home care industry helping seniors live independently for as long as possible it really struck a cord with me. I meet with the owner of Senior Helpers next week to explore what type of positions are available and what, if anything, I would need to do to prepare myself. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities!
So yes....I finally feel like I am moving forward and that my next stage of life has some direction! I feel GREAT!
