It's almost as you described you @Cashew. The "bad" one is the sword of the "good" one. It's a sword to kill, to rip apart and the good one doesn't like it much and tries to control it but also has to use it from time to time.

Well swords can also keep others at arms' length & more, be used for making space, there's lot more use to them than just offensive? & They can be helpful to lean to & at times even snuggle with, being both a crutch and a friend.
