What If You Recognize Someone Here?

It is no one who has replied here!!! I have let this newer member know in a confidential way that protects her identity and mine. I am sure it will be ok, but I couldn't not say anything. We can mutually ignore and it will be just fine!

I certainly hope I didn't stir anyone's paranoia. In a million attempts, you could never recreate this scenario. It is incredibly doubtful it will ever happen again. I need to go buy a lottery ticket because that is how remote that chance was!!! No worries! I perhaps should have not said anything. I have little experience in these areas and was stumped! Sorry to everyone!

Several times over the three years I've been here on the forum I've been about 95% certain that I recognize nicknames from other recovery circles. But I am here for my own reasons, and know they are too. I don't sweat about it as these people (3 of them) are 2 dimensional and I only know them from other internet sites. Or rather, are pretty certain I know them from other recovery sites.

I don't really think it would matter very much to me if someone I knew in my community was on this site. The potential benefit I get is worth the risk in my opinion and I try to be conscientious about my content even here.

Edited to add that I have also recommended this forum for some people that I discuss stuff with about co-occurring behaviors substance abuse/addiction and PTSD. I have found it helpful and wouldn't mind if someone from another forum or in my 3 dimensional community participated here.

I would suggest that you just block the person out so you don't see or read their posts. Don't tell them, as you might make them leave here by doing so, which might also harm for real life relationship with them. Whatever you have read so far, push it out of your head and let it go. You can do this!

Two dimensional is online, for me "lying on a plane; having an area but not enclosing any volume". (I can see what is written on a plane or flat surface)... three dimensional for me is a fleshed out person as it has "having or appearing to have length, breadth, and depth."

Don't get me wrong, you all are people too, only I perceive you in two rather than three dimensions because you are words on a plane/flat surface.
