What The...?

@Justmehere I have no idea how to help or what to say, but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and am so sorry you're going through this. I've been screwed by the system in the past but nothing like this.

It's so difficult when the people who are supposed to be helping, are the ones causing us to need help.

:hug:s if you accept them. I hope you can find your footing again soon.

I did have one clinic tell me my insurance said I made up being raped.
Insurance doesn't do that. Is that literally what the clinic worker said, "your insurance says you falsified your rape claim"? I'm asking in an effort to see if you are inadvertently misconstruing something, emphasis on inadvertently.

I am not violent. No one has ever accused me of being disruptive as a reason why no care. These clinics treat people with known violent histories. I don't know why I keep getting turned down, I don't think I'm getting the full story
I am not bringing this up to trigger you - and actually, if you are feeling like you just don't want to hear an opinion on this, I'll put it behind a spoiler so you can avoid it:
I understand that you know you would never hurt anyone - but there was the outburst that happened with your last therapist which led to her terminating your care, and what she cited was that she was afraid for her safety. I remember you being devastated that she misunderstood you, but also, you describing how it might have seemed to her, and that you did lose control of yourself verbally. Now, I know absolutely nothing about how this kind of information is actually communicated to an insurance company. I do think a therapist has to do a completion form, and that there is sometimes a check box where they give a reason for discontinuation of care. But honestly, you would have to ask your insurance company directly.

I remember when insurance denied my claim on a very expensive treatment for depression that actually made a huge difference. One of the denials was, in essence: if it had been working, you would have stopped seeing a psychiatrist.

No, that's not actually how depression works. And it was so unbelievably upsetting to be told by some random doctor just reading my appeal file that he knew more about my depression than I did. It can be so, so confusing and demoralizing dealing with insurance, period - let alone insurance for mental health care.

Would it help you more to untangle what's going on, or to just take a 48 hour major distraction break from it? do you have an idea?

I don't know how this can be happening. YOU sound perfectly coherent and remarkably composed. None of the rest of it makes sense. I'm sure there's something you're not being told. YOU are not the reason this doesn't make sense. It really sounds, to me, like you can't make sense of it because it doesn't make sense. More than likely something is being left out.

I don't think I'm getting the full story. I did have one clinic tell me my insurance said I made up being raped.
The first part of that I'm 100% convinced is true. The second part is an explanation. And, it could be some kind of twisted, misunderstood version of that.

I'm not sure where you live or what kind of insurance you have. In the US, I suppose there's going to be a difference between states. At this point, if I were you, I'd try anyone I knew who "knows people". I'm still thinking you need an advocate. If this is what it looks like it is, you've been labeled as some kind of "crazy person best avoided for legal reasons". While that makes NO sense as a description of you, that kind of mix up could sure explain how you're being treated. The thing is, it's a "well known fact" that all us crazy people think we're fine and the problem is everyone else. I think you need someone with the most impeccable credibility possible to support you. Someone who knows you fairly well and who's used to dealing with bureaucracies.

I keep wondering how they can possibly refuse to treat you. Obviously they're doing it, but what possible grounds are there for mental health "professionals" to refuse to treat someone who's looking for help? I did a little looking online. Sounds like they have a fair amount of latitude to refuse to treat who ever they want to, BEFORE you establish a professional relationship with them. What a "professional relationship" is is subject to some interpretation. This just seems wrong! At the very least, they owe you a reasonable explanation. I can see where they might avoid that, if they were concerned about how you're react to the explanation. Which is an advantage of getting someone else to do the asking.

If there's any way you can manage to contact that back up T, I'd do it. What ever it costs, you're worth it!

I feel like the abused woman who kept going back to her abuser by seeking care at a community mental...

I am so sorry this happened to you. I haven't read through all of the other replies, but I wanted to suggest that if you have PTSD or need counseling as a result of a crime and there was a police report filed, you may be able to get financial assistance from your state's witness-victim assistance for your treatment - in my state it's up to 25K for treatment I think.

Good luck.

It's a very good idea. For one crime, I didn't file for victims comp within the first year of the crime, and thus my claim was dropped. For another, they paid for part of 24 of my counseling sessions a year ago and then said they could not pay for any more.

I am standing besides you supporting you and you are not alone. I think that calling the back up therapist is an excellent idea. I hate it so much when the people you are depending on betray you in such a psycho way. You will have to gather your strength and fight this with all that you have and mabe you could contact a lawyer that does free consultations to see what the lawyer has to say and hopefully will help you. It may take a very long time but I believe you have it in you to fight for you. Hugs.
