Research Why Do Some People Get Ptsd While Others Don't?

You are invited to participate in a research study! I am an undergraduate student at Alice Lloyd College. I am doing this project for my Sociology capstone requirements for graduation. Additionally, I am interested in this project because I was diagnosed with PTSD about 6 years ago and I am curious as to why some people get PTSD while others who experience traumatic events do not. This has been studied by various scientists. The conclusion seems to be that people who get PTSD had a mental illness before (depression, etc), childhood trauma or mental illness runs in the genetics. It is still widely unknown though. I think taking brain scans of soldiers before they go to war and their history vs after the war would be insightful. Also, easier in a way vs domestic violence. Although, that would be expensive.
