Why Doesn't The Va Just Give Us Punching Bags

Took an after survey today asking how my 14 week PTSD program helped me. The doc seemed discouraged when I told her not much. During the course they gave me an intern. The VA gave a combat vet of many tours and 25 years in the army an intern. She had no military experience what the hell are they thinking just like that demands Shinseki I hated the beret when he started that s hit. The VA doesn't know what to o with us. I have my first civilian out of pocket appt. Tomorrow I can't live like this anymore I have lost too much. I lost the love of my life

So much of life is down to luck & timing.
At least you can f*ck with the odds by being really damn persistent (okay, not this time, then fine. We'll make another go of it with someone else).
Good on ya for not just rolling over and accepting f*ckwit as the final say.
I suspect most of us have had the short (or long) list of crap counselors.
So too, the diamonds that crop up in the most unlikely places.
I'm the last person to be able to say word one about love, I lost mine a long time ago, except to say that I hope yours comes back, and just needs a break. Mine tried to. I wouldn't let them.

Have you tried your local vet center? They are there for combat veterans only, and are staffed by former millitary or military spouses. Probably the greatest resource I've found so far to really help.

Service-related sexual trauma as well, I believe. Also think that being a veteran isn't a requirement to work there, just happens that most people have close ties to the military in some fashion or another.

Regardless, my local vet center is outstanding. Some great people there both on staff and in the groups I attend. If you've got one nearby and you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend as well.

I thought WE were the punching bags.

OK, here's a rant that reading this started. I went for an eye exam a month ago. I've been getting my script updated every year since I starter getting my glasses from the VA. Well this time, no update, doc says 'my eyes are fine'. By the time I get my next exam, next year, I'll need a cane and a dog. Geez, that $30 bucks that they've saved is certainly going to make a huge difference in the VA's budget. After all the years of shit that the recent crap this is what you get from them. I couldn't hate them more than I do at this moment. Of course, there's tomorrow.

They just suck the life right out of you.

Vet Centers are under the VA umbrella. While the counselors can be truly helpful sometimes, they're still subject to the same old red tape bullshit.
