WonderingWhy- if it's working there would be absolutely no need to change it right now, stick to what works for you now.

cherryblossom, i work in the drug and alcohol field so i know what addiction is trust me! :trapped:
I meant addiction in the brain becomes dependant on the chemicals to remain functing and a withdraw of those chemicals leads to- as you know- chaos.
we don't experience withdrawl from something unless there is a dependance/addiction.

it would be insensitive to state these drugs aren't addictive when so many hundreds of people have been trying to withdrawl from these drugs for years in absolute despair, as you can see on paxilprogress.com

Ezabella,
I just read your story and the stuff you posted about SSRI's. I've been on Zoloft for about 8 years. I have always had good results from it. I think I will ask my doctor about these negative side effects, though. I am glad you posted this. I don't have tons of spare time, so I don't usually get to read this forum entirely. Just bits and pieces. I have two teenage sons, and a full time job, so I'm pretty busy.

I love what my Neurologist told me when I went to see him at the University, he has been practicing for 25 years and still learning. He is amazing! He told me when he first started out practicing how they actually thought people with certain "illnesses" were coming in simply because they were neurotic. I wonder if that is where they got the term :thinking:These illness turn out to be quite serious ones such as Migraines, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Etc. Anyway, he explained he was taught this and the answer was to observe and send people home with a hobby or on to a Psychiatrist, who institutionalized them or medicated them with benezos or ADs. Interesting how far we have come, or have we?

He also told me that Specialist, meaning Neurologist, Scientists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, gps, ets, know more about the Ocean and Space than they know about the Human Mind. It's sad but true. Absolutely there have been strides made but in the end the human body, mind, and experience, including family history all come into play. There is no "across the board formula" and one answer. Each has it's own specific story and answer.

I do not take anti-depressants, after years of trying to take them they just didn't work very well for me, I take other medications that work much better and level me out to keep me out of the hospital. For me, I had my grand awaking to all my past traumas. Nothing kept them from coming and me from having to deal with them but ME. Interesting, huh?
