This is really interesting article for anyone that is interested in reinfection by Covid19.

This is Kim Woo-Ju he's the Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Korea University College of Medicine. He works at Korean Univesity Univeristy Guro Hospital in Seoul whilst also being involved in research on infectious diseases like #Covid19. He's the head specialist in South Korea. He's done it all. Tuberculosis, AIDS, SARS, Swine Flu Pandemic, Ebola, and MERS. He's apparently an amazing teacher as well. It's 36.55 minutes long and it is interesting to note that at 8.08 he calls those who have Covid19 and get it again is defined as "reactivation". Fascinating man. He's also the public face of Covid19 in Taiwan for the public and also he educates his peers, other medical professionals and journalists. His medical opinions about the efficacy of masks is salient for many of us.

Fascinating this is one tricky virus. 51 recovered Coronavirus patients test positive again in South Korea. I have been watching that for a bit. Now it's getting attention. 51 recovered coronavirus patients test positive again in South Korea

I saw that and thought, this can't be true. Mayo clinic is taking plasma from a recovered person and giving to a suffering person. It makes no sense if a person can catch Covid-19 again and again. Mayo Clinic wants recovered COVID-19 patients to donate plasma to help those still battling the disease

There are immunity factors that are still being researched/worked out. Not everyone who has had COVID will "reactivate". Not every person can "catch it" more than once. And those two things aren't the same phenomenon. So - plasma testing does make sense. It's just one piece of a still fairly large puzzle.

ETA - also, from @Deanna's link re: Mayo clinic -
“It's not known if this treatment will or will not help those with COVID-19 or if it will have any harmful effects, but this is one of the only treatments that we have at present,” the Mayo Clinic said. Only hospitalized COVID-19 patients who’ve been referred by their health care provider will qualify to receive plasma from recovered patients. To receive a plasma donation, patients must be at least 18 years old, have a lab-confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus, and have either a life-threatening case of COVID-19 or have been deemed high risk of progression to life-threatening illness.
Potential dangers acknowledged.

If you find hard data on this please let me know. I am fascinated to find out what is going on with reactivations.

As this is Kim Woo-Ju Prof of the Depart of Infectious Diseases in Korea. He's a credible source. And he has done all infectious diseases throughout his career - Tuberculosis, AIDS, SARS, Swine Flu Pandemic, Ebola, & MERS. He's a very knowledgeable professional and at the top of his field. It would be really good if he is wrong.

Because of the reactivations or reinfections was a moving part of Covid19. I didn't go back to teach in the schools. So I work in a wide range of schools with average student populations of 2500 and 300-400 teachers not including ancillary staff or administrative staff after I was exposed I would have potentially infected 60,000. Once I got sick and got better (because I was mentally unwell as well as getting sick on and off) I would have infected 38,000 students and teachers. I read one article and I have to find it again that you can shed the Covid19 for 5 weeks after being infected. So I made myself unavailable for the rest of the term. Oh some good schools rang me and I was SO tempted but because my mental health was poor and if it came out later that I was the one that transmitted it between the schools I wouldn't be happy about that. So I went into lockdown in February to make sure I didn't pass it on because I was reading about what was happening in Italy, and being so concerned about the data coming out of China not being anywhere near what they were actually experiencing. The Chinese Communist Party has a lot to answer for, whistle blower doctors were treated brutally and I read 6 of them had to denounce their warnings as traitorous.

I can't wait until there are some MOOCs available to do. It is fascinating.

I have (from home) been helping out here and there in communities and we have been quite effective.

If anyone has any good mask making patterns I would appreciate receiving them.
