Let's be honest, end of state of emergency may not mean end of social isolation completely, but it could mean businesses and stores reopening

This is what Im hoping for. Slowly, reopen SOME stores, but keep the social distancing. I think if we do it too fast the health care system will almost certianly will become overwhelmed. In any country at this point. It has to happen slowly. And i think the mandate to wear a mask or face covering will happen sooner rather then later but def when things start to loosen up.

Here in Florida, one county is already mandating a face covering. It can be a bandana but it must be something that covers your nose and mouth and must stay up on its own without you holding it.

I found two hair bands that will work with a homemade no sew mask. Yay!

According to our state's web site, the oldest citizen to be recovered from this, so far, here, is 104. I don't know what other places are releasing for information, but can anyone beat that, at this point? The age range of those hospitalized, here, is 5-104. Those at the extreme ends of the scale both recovered.

This is off the subject but haven't heard it mentioned- if anyone is using/ has available a surgical mask or a vented one,, it's my understanding vents down on the outside to prevent someone from infecting you, vents up to prevent infecting them.

Nope.

It’s just practical. Vents down on the outside don’t create cups to hold other people’s blood/ mucus/ vomit/ saliva/ etc if&when their bodily fluids splash on you, like vents up would.

Normal masks don’t prevent infection, microbes still pass through just fine... they just lessen the microbial load. So you’re only breathing in millions of microbes instead of hundreds of billions. Healthy immune systems can easily handle most microbes in small quantities. It’s only the particularly virulent &/or lethal that cause a problem for most people.

In order to prevent transfer & infection, one needs very specific masks or suits.

Keep in mind that viruses are so small they can -and often do- infect bacteria! The fibers on a paper mask? (Much less a fabric one) are like light poles or traffic cones on a street being driven on by trucks (parasites), cars (fungus), motor cycles (bacteria), and pedestrians (virus). The more obstacles on the street? The slower the traffic. But even if you put cement poles across the road, stopping most parasites, fungi, and bacteria? Not only do most viruses pass through just fine (like pedestrians on a trail blocked to road traffic)... but some other microbes just drive right over them. Like a badass SUV, or tank. Most pedestrians are fairly harmless. The police (immune system) easily direct them away. But a riot (massive exposure, like a sneeze) can overwhelm them, as can even a small squad of elite soldiers (virulent & lethal), much less a battalion of them.

Normal masks just slow traffic, is all. Lessening exposure, not preventing it.

I havent read the whole thread, forgive me if this has been covered.

Some industrial type face masks actually don't filter exhaled air. They usually have a hard plastic part, either one in front or two on the sides that are simple flapper type valves that allow you to exhale air without restriction but flap closed when you breath in. They werent very popular and cost more so I never had them but I have seen them and with the shortages they are probably out there somewhere now, being useless against the spread.

Oh yes, sorry @Friday badly worded, I know. But also here we're too low on for eg's N95 's atm to get issued anything else, even if we're providing direct care to someone who's tested positive. Will go to drs and nurses, as they should. Normally we could have access to N95's.

People like this is going to get a lot of people killed.

It’s infuriating to hear people like him speak. So many lies! And sorry but IDC if he’s a chiropractor, he’s dumb AF. Know why so many hospitals are laying off doctors, nurses, techs, etc? It’s because many non essential surgeries and procedures are being postponed, and it’s these things that make BANK for hospitals. It’s not like you can take surgeons and just throw them in the ER or ICU and be like voila! They know what to do! There are so many specialties and it’s not so easy as to just shuffle everyone around to a different department that they don’t necessarily specialize in. I mean my psychiatrist has a medical degree but would you want him taking care of COVID-19 patients? Oh hell no.

In my state the portal isn’t open yet for those who are self employed but we are assured that benefits will be backdated. Now it’s just a waiting game.

In Florida they are still allowing churches to meet with zero social distancing even though they know people are going to die. But they don't care. Because it's their "right" and if that kills someone else? Not their problem.

It’s infuriating because people are so blind as to not understand that God would want us to be taking care of each other. I think if there is a God he’s out there somewhere shaking his head and saying “where did I go wrong? Help each other!” You can worship from anywhere....

It’s only a matter of time before there are massive church related outbreaks. They will be numerous and people will die. The sad thing is that it’d be largely preventable. They’ll do mental gymnastics by saying “it was just his/her time to go”, and that “it was gods will”.

But he is. He’s wearing a shirt that says “dr” and telling people how to not get sick by taking zinc and such. He’s only a chiropractor. He went to bone adjustment school (lol), NOT medical school. He’s in over his head.

No, he didn’t. He said tonic water, Schweppes specifically. Tonic water has quinine in it, seltzer water does not.
