When I heard Trump say at a news conference today that 'America had done the best, out of the whole world aside from Germany in beating the virus' - it was a surreal moment.

I thought I will wake up from this nightmare soon surely and it won't be true, not any of it. Can I please have some of his drugs?

I miss drugs ? This reality is too much.

@Neverthesame - besides CTV being Canadas equivalent of FOX .... mostly garbage you have to sift through to find anything useful and airing stories purely for fear mongering.... this article says they may be considering fining people who ignore social distancing recommendations.

So far the only thing that's law is mandatory self-isolation, in which the fines start at $1000. Mandatory self-isolation is for returning travellers and people who test positive and that AHS has told to isolate. And even Kenny said, in one of his updates, the higher fines will be for businesses that are violating the self-distancing measures. Eg) hotels that allow weddings of hundreds of people confined in their conference rooms etc.

You want actual credible info instead of CTV sly worded garbage check the alberta info website COVID-19 info for Albertans

I am considering fining people that don't keep a 6' distance from me and my groceries, up to and including condiments and prepackaged spices. 1st offense, mustard or ketchup, multiple offenses could include salad dressings, stove top stuffing or shake and bake. I have had it, don't mess with me.

I'm really glad they emphasis Florida's public health website and the way they break things county by county in the White House Press conference today. This is how Florida has reported this from the start. Which is why I started to talk about Covid-19 by counties. The local 24 hr news station does a county by county break down of it every hour. They really have done an amazing job with that reporting and the public health website has much more information. I hope other states follow suit on that. It even influences what store I go to. Cause, the counties outside of Orlando are small. If I can go to a county with no cases, I'd prefer to do that then the county I live in that has cases. I mean, keep people informed to the tinniest of details. It helps!

Am I the only one totally stressing about the second wave of this? The experts have said time and time again that if we stop the shut down too soon the virus will rebound - possibly as soon as July. It's not even the virus itself that is stressing me out. It's the people around me (as in America). I don't think I can handle another round of the absolute stupidty that we has been going on all thru this pandemic.

I'm not a big people person, and I'm trying to remember -- Freida you have ptsd. But seriously. These people are stupid in ways that are just mind numbing. Even thinking about another round of this (or five) is making me just.... :banghead:

SO MUCH OF THIS!!!

Today, someone locally wanted to advocate for reopening businesses by arguing our local fatality rate is merely 0.0002% because he calculated it from the handful of deaths compared to the TOTAL local population, not the confirmed positive cases (which would actually result in a fatality rate of 3.7%, which is comparatively high).

And all the various conspiracy theories aside, dealing with this - increasing!- level of stupidity ... really wearing me down in major ways. An extended or second or third round of this? Yeah, not sure if I can take it. You can ignore that only so much...

I completely understand why they want to re-open for business & work. So many & so much depend on a growing & even stablised economy.

What I don't get is if they do re-open - do they understand that a second wave is sure to happen. It's not a maybe it's a definite. Look at o/seas countries who have had relative success in controlling and containing it within their population.

I guess they consider a certain death rate from covid19 as acceptable?
