I have suffered with this. My classmates would have to walk me to the train to make sure I crossed streets safely and got on the correct rail home.

We were a tight bunch. College buddies. All the same classes together. We'd even cry together over how insanely difficult our one prof was. They also happened to take the train to and from school anyways, they didn't go out of their way to accommodate me. They just made sure to keep an eye on me and make the decisions (when to cross the street) for me since I was unable to myself.
