You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you actually want to talk to people you trust about a trauma that you're processing and they really struggle to be able to hear it because it's so disturbing. But you really want to work it out somehow. So you end up doing what you've always done and go silent about it and try to process it yourself. And it ends up making you feel even more alone because NOW they DO know but they can't handle hearing about it. So no matter what you're still stuck dealing with it alone. Just like before you ever even told.

We're here for you, we understand. Have you written a trauma diary here? I did and it is very enlightening. I did seem to process out what I was writing about too, and I realized many a thing that I had not before about my traumas. And when you write your traumas here, folks understand, are willing to hear you and tell you they do understand too. It is so relieving.

I think it's because in the kitchen I'm more distracted, I'm often not facing the door, and there's usually noise going on so I'm less likely to hear anyone approaching.
I go into some sort of zone, Hashi, I race about at a million miles per hour. I'm getting better at trying to tone that down though, being more aware of what I'm doing. I need to stop my body going into some sort of defensive hunched shoulder position. Hard to explain :(.

... why you are not eating when you go out with friends.
I try: "I've already eaten today, before I came out" or "Oh I had a huge lunch" or variations. Or I order something I know will be small.

You know you have PTSD when you spend too much time helping and being concerned for others in your life, and not enough time helping or looking after yourself. You also know it when you stop remembering how to be rational.

Thank you very much, for the laughs, as tomorrow promises to be, a very anxious filled day, for me. As the social assistance cheques are deposited, in the bank account and I have to go shopping.
