You Know You Have PTSD When...

When no matter where you wake up, you always feel somewhere else!

When you're about to argue how life's just sucky in twenty ways, only to have pointed to you all you're listing are PTSD sucks and/or current abuse issues and nothing's really that hot as it's to you.

When you can't remember names of people dear to you.... what do you mean writing them down, that's an act of treason, who the f*ck even does it.

When.... living as an undocumented citizen of some other country is perpetually a new life goal. :D

& things really hurting are those you wink & grin about the most. Dignity before self where it doesn't exist before others.

When you are looking forward to the local Christmas market but are overwhelmed by all the people there...so you cannot really enjoy the visit.

...when you are convinced it MUST be all my fault with a weird sense of urgency and robust amount stubbornness.

... when you can go completely numb without the use of drugs.

...when you put your keys and cell phone in the fridge and leave the milk out on the counter top because PTSD gives whole new meaning to absentminded.

... ^ that, and when you have to keep yourself from hitting them that very instant & taking off.
... when any sort of coaching you into calm just pisses you off royally.

When you wait to see a movie for two months until it's about to leave the theater and go at noon on a weekday just so you can be the only person in an empty theater, and you still sit in the seat closest to the exit even if no one else is there.

When you remember something you have to urgently get done... 6 months ago.

That wasn't this morning, was it?

when you only laugh once a year

when you go to bed in your clothes because you're too tired to change because you've avoided going to bed until 3 or 4 especially if you have an appointment the next day

when you are obsessed with the internet because you are afraid you will miss something

when you are afraid to leave the house to see the therapist so have to drive 90 mph to get there on time because you cannot be late

when you only shop on the days you have an appt. with the therapist because it is the only time you leave the house.

Life whizzes by (how is it December already????) ..... until you try to post twice in a row here and get the dreaded 'you must wait ..... seconds'. You wait for what seems like 5 minutes and get another 'you must wait ..... seconds' warning.

When you finally decide to get off your arse and cook something, only to get the new, unopened block of butter out of the fridge and discover it went out of date three months ago!
