You Know You Have PTSD When...

@Recovery4Me that happened to me a few years ago. I was really annoyed about being woken up in the middle of the night! Everyone at work the next day couldn't understand why I wasn't terrified!:D

I know I have PTSD when a nightmare has the power to unsettle me for days :(

@jaccat: I know that feeling too good. ...I can't often remember details of the nightmares, but the bad feelings remain.

...you know you have PTSD when you're not afraid to walk and hike on high mountains alone - where you usually need another person to secure you. But you're afraid to do the same tour in a group.

The same patern happens over and over and yet you still get caught in it everytime. Trauma responses suck.

...when you feel worthless if you are not productive and afraid to tell people who think that they help and understand you that they don't! ...because you're so tired of explanations.

When I was so proud of myself for getting my paperwork to get my taxes done, and at the office learn that they are the wrong papers from 2008 and having to make an appointment for later on and embarrassed to go back and I have the right paperwork this time, only to find out that I owed on my taxes. Geez. At least they are done for another year now.

When paperwork stresses the hell out of you because your life always gets stuck on paperwork. Leaving it to others is still difficult because your business, your business. Aalright.

When your counselor whom you used to see and haven't seen or talked to since last year, sends you an Valentine's e-card.

You begin to think of how to reply to her Valentine greeting, and her words that she is praying that I am happy and at peace and she wishes for me to have a good day.

Part of me wants to reply with a list of things that I have had to deal with since I last saw her, and then the other part, says, just hit the delete button to her e-card.

3)freak out when someones at the door
4)Cant handle someone walking behind you, especially upstairs..
5)Can no longer handle watching news or scary movies
6)Cant handle seeing anyone get in a fight
7)Can not get your application for ss completed
8)cant handle when someone is angry in front of you
9)You are up all night
10)you take showers with the lights off

When you have a nice dinner with your family, everything is fine and from one second to another...you can't take their appearance anymore and feel like you must leave immediately...then you get in panic because you don't want to ruin the mood and search for an excuse to go to your room.

You know you have PTSD when...

your chest triggers you so you wear a sports bra and over it a nice long bandage to keep it in place;
you are wearing earplugs right now and have worn them since you woke up,
you tend to wear a bandana over your head so the hairs don't touch your face,
you wash your hands every time you touch something that has been touched by someone else.
you are burning calming incense and playing a soothing Tibetan Singing Bowl sound.
you sent an email to your flatmates informing them that you have PTSD.

That's my day in short. Ahum. xD

When you get emotionally tired of fighting PTSD and you just sit back and let it hit you and you just sit there and cry.
