You Know You Have PTSD When...

Someone needs to tell the DSM maker guys we've got whole new diagnostic criterion: 'it makes your clothing go to shit'.

Well no I'm not saying even in joke, all the Walmart fellas could start claiming they've got PTSD and on top of those guys with stubbed toes and cheating wives we don't need the wank.

I have to say I've mostly been able to stop that. It helps to be lightly dressed/ no clothes re: night sweats/ less to strip.

You lock all the doors and windows and check them over and over and over. Never been the victim of a home invasion, but my hypervigilence keeps me overly aware of the fact that it could possibly happen. :wideeyed:

Every little noise outside is a threat, so you rush to the back door with your aluminum baseball bat only to confront a raccoon. :confused::facepalm:

When ... you remind yourself to ease up on that criticism, on another hand not kicking your ass means other people will kick your ass and not so gently, so you keep doing it.

I think it is the PTSD combo of anxiety and hypervigilence that causes it, but I am no expert, this is just my opinion.

Have to agree. They are all related and interlinked.

Uh, I need to go check door stopper, make sure pepper spray next to bed....even though secure building with 3 cameras someone would need to pass, and recorded, just to get to apartment not on 1st floor.

My favorite place was in Spain. When you locked deadbolt it locked door from top, side and bottom all at same time.
(Kinda sad when you consider that as something to want and desire...)
