You Know You've Been Dissociating/being Absent Minded When...

.....when you forget to turn your car off.

......someone tells you to do something or asks you something and you were listening, you swear! But can't seem to remember what they asked or said.

......when you're fading; your head hurts from being too overwhelmed, your hot, and even though you're in a three bedroom house you're suffocating and need to get out

......the need to run away from an overwhelming situation

.......there's a fog covering your thoughts and you just can't seem to make hem clear

........when sleep is better than going out of your head

A thread specifically for those moments we all have where we dissociate, or are simply being absent minded. (not sure if those are the same thing...).

You know you've been dissociating / absent minded when...
  • you cant remember what you said a minute ago.
  • you cant remember what someone else said a minute ago.
  • you know what the conversation is about, but it doesn't fully register and you still have to ask what the conversation is about.
  • you manage to confuse everyone in the conversation, including yourself, in doing so.
  • you place an object somewhere, and immediately start looking for it elsewhere.

All of that. These are some I frequently experience;
  • you are usually not sure which day or date is is
  • you are often unsure of what your age really is
  • you leave things on the stove and then forget (until the smell gets you)
  • someone talks to you who claimed they met you recently but you have no idea who they are
  • you mix up days (believing that the thing you did yesterday, you did an hour ago)
  • you put the laundry detergent in the fridge and spend hours looking for it
  • you put a boiling pan on the stove to put veggies in and then forget to put veggies in
  • when I remind myself to buy something and turns out I already did
Looking at your meds and wondering if you have already taken them..

Every. Freaking. Day. :wacky:

The list goes on.

Read a post from early January where I mentioned still not having picked up my drycleaning that I paid rush delivery on.

Icewater dump into my veins.

OMFG!!! It's February ! They donate the clothes after 30 days! It's been almost 90 days??? That's hundreds of dollars of clothes, that there's no way on planet freaking earth I can replace, that I had to have freaking ordered in from overseas, over the course of a motherf*cking year. Even if I could afford to replace them, I can't go to bloody Europe before I need grown-up-clothes, nor magically make them be in stock, but since I can't afford to replace them in the first place..... aaaaaaarrrrrrrgh! Voila merde! Che cazzo che cazzo vaffunculo fai mother f*cking memory from goddamn...

What the hell happened to January & Feb???

:banghead: f*ck f*ck Fu-

Blink.

Pause.

Blink. Blink.

They're hanging 2 feet away from me, in a neat little cellophane bag from the drycleaners. With my signature on the pickup receipt.

:whistling:

For the record, I probably care a helluva lot less than I should that I don't remember picking them up. Phew! Okay. Can back away slowly from that little tantrum & just pretend it never happened. I appear to be kind of good at that, so may as well play to my strengths :P
