Hi
I took zoloft for about 10 months. I was on 25mg dosage and for the last couple of months I felt normal so I finally took the courage to stop taking it. I stopped taking it around 2 weeks ago and I was fine for the first 3 days but then I started to have a weird feeling in my head.

I constantly feel dizzy and it is hard for me to walk more than couple of minutes. I kinda feel light headed too and sometimes have nausea. I talked to a friend of mine who is a psychologist and he said it is pretty common to have these symptoms. I was just wondering how much longer should I expect to have these withdrawal effects?

Thank you in advance.

Maybe you should talk with your prescriber/pharmacist about how you're feeling. I have just began weaning recently from 100mg to 50mg. I did not notice any of your mentioned symptoms, only that my mood has been a little out of sync and takes a week or two to readjust to the drop in dosage. I hope your symptoms ease soon

DO NOT stop taking zoloft, or any ssri, cold turkey. It is compared to heroin withdraw and is dangerous. Yes, I know this from personal experience.

You need to ween off of it by slowly lowering your dose. If you recall how long is required for Zoloft to truly take effect in mood modification, your brain needs the same time to readjust without the drug.

Be gentle with yourself by applying patience to your complicated and amazing physical body. It can't move so fast.

Also I'm assuming your prescriber and yourself made the mutual decision to wean? As a nurse I agree with the pp, you should really have been weaned to 12.5mg initially to trial a weaning period and so on...

When I weaned off of Zoloft, after my last does I took, I felt sick for about a week with the "flu-like symptoms". Feeling crumby and dizzy. For the next month or so, I experienced these brain zaps. I was worried they would never stop, but they finally did.

I'm on Zoloft, 50 milligrams. I wasn't able to take mine for a couple days since I ran out, and the pain I got from it. I had a bad migraine, threw up 3 times, had severe panic attacks and flashbacks, extreme suicidal thoughts and ended up self harming. Luckily I got back on it and only was off a couple days. Its amazing what it does to your brain.
