What can I say...been reading some of the posts and I totally get where your all at.
Could write along intro, I've suffered along time with what they thought at first was depression, then manic and now all that plus PTSD.
Having a "label" on what's wrong is a double edged sword...great knowing what kind of madness I have but nowadays there's still so many misconceptions of anything mental health,PTSD sufferers are most often portrayed as violet and lashing out...I take my emotions inward till they explode on me and I just want to cease to exist!
I'm at the end of the long tunnel nearly nowadays, thanks to VAUK and some great local doctors...yaken over 13plus years to get here, through homelessness several times and trying to find a place I felt I belonged to..have loads of family issues..Dad was diagnosed with Asbergus syndrome at 70...like I said on labels..it has helped me understand his actions better but damage done!
Baubles was gonna make this short...lol
I'm just gonna add that the single thing that has got me to this point is 10 years ago a friend who's sofa I was sleeping on rescued a dog ,she had three allready,so was gonna rehome him ( like me!!)...We bonded and that was it...

I find helping others and being able to be around people who can relate to me (as well as relating to them), has been so helpful for me. It's been very encouraging and nice to find that kind of mutual support. It definitely can be a lonely journey.

It's especially hard for family and friends who don't suffer any form of mental health issues to grasp the pain!
If it was a.cut or other scar they can relate to,they wanna help but I just felt guilty because they get distressed at not being able to help....vicious circle to break outa

@Claire9547 Welcome to the forum! :)

I don't think most people can understand what living with PTSD is like or any mental illness unless they have first hand experience. That is the best part about this forum...being among others who really do understand. I hope you find the site helpful.

HI @Claire9547 - glad you found this place. Thank you for sharing your story with us. May I ask what is VAUK? Sorry if I should know this
Dogs are awesome and great therapy! I am glad the two of you found one another.
