I have a friend who is a psychiatrist and saw him today around. He asked some amazing questions and got me thinking. After I was done explaining my situation and talking with him I got out a lot of felling with him but found my self to be angry for a long period of time after wards. Has that ever happened to anyone before

I love my Doc and Therapist too. And I trust them fully because they are good people. When we find somebody we trust and they are able to make us comfortable enough to share some of the reasons why we are angry we are grateful. But then after a while, it is easy to get mad because those things were brought up to the surface where we can clearly see them. I don't think it is a bad thing. I just think it is part of the process.

Super glad you're reaching out for help and that it seemed like a good conversation.

He is your friend and he is your psychiatrist? Did you meet with him as your friend or as a psychiatrist? Generally mental health care professional shouldn't have "dual roles" with their clients. It can create a lot of "conflicts of interest" and color the whole process.

That being said, feeling more emotional after a session can sometimes be a part of the process. Sometimes it can be a red flag. It depends.

He is a friend I know from my fitness center and knew he was a psychiatrist. I asked him about PTSD and he explained it and it really helped. He did not over step his boundaries at all. All he said that I never thought of that he is 50/50 on if I should see a psychiatrist about anxiety. If that is the case and I can afford it the recommendation comes from therapist not him.

I look at it as being coached up. If I trust someone and consider them a professional coach me up so I can be the best I can be.

Have totally been there. Sounds like he hit some raw nerves but maybe they were ready to be released? I've gotten angry at my therapist in the past. After we've gotten to feel safe with them, sometimes it's easy to project stuff toward them though if they're good they'll teach us other ways to channel the anger.

Angry at what?
I wasn't angry at him. Just he knew how to ask really good questions made me think like I never have before. After I relased what I said ( nothing was beyond embarrassing or personal) I was angry and had anxiety issues till I took a nap. Was just in a angry state of mind , and didn't know if happened to anyone after therapy or relapsing feelings.

So he kept saying she's an adult/ big girl and she will be fine. That struck a huge chord with me one because shows I don't trust her and that I am controlling. What I wanted to do is scream she was raped she doesn't have the mentality and mindset of a adult she acts like a high schooler

Maybe both? You're not necessarily controlling; she may be ill-equipped to cope. Idk.

Only thing for certain, yes she is an adult, but many people aren't 'just fine'.

Yes it has. I used to get so angry because my MHC tried to keep referring me to other programs. I asked her if she knew my branch of service and why she never took notes. Seeing a private sector was a huge positive difference.

Maybe some stress triggers were activated during the session too. He may have been poking around for hotspots. This will help him know where to dig and how far.
