Day 7 of dropping from 75 mg to 50 mg is tomorrow. I feel great so far. I feel so good, that I'm considering staying on 50 mgs til my body yells at me to go lower.

No need to force the issue, but I will talk to my P tomorrow for guidance. He's already recommended I stay on my prescribed dose (75) for several more months, then come back to his office for an evaluation (cough cough another $250...), then proceed with the tapering. Eek.

I've already gone against his recommendation (after doing some research and deep consideration), but so far it feels right and I think he will support my decision, now that it's been made.

I know they say the doctor knows best, but sometimes we know what's best for us and our body. Just make sure to keep a check on yourself.
I've been without medication for over a year, it was my decision. I have had a very wobbly moment recently which my doctor prescribed more medication but at a very low dose compare to what I was on previously. Before this recent episode I was doing great, better than I've ever done...so I made the drastic decision to not take this new medication and I've come out of this bad time quicker than I would normally and with a sense of achievement. I am taking various supplements and doing my best to go walking or some sort of exercise and even art work to keep my mood stable....even when I've not wanted to leave the house I have forced myself to do so. It's taken just over a month to start to feel better, but normally it's six months and beyond.
So you do what you feel is right for you and do the things that bring your mood up when you're struggling, even when you don't want to do anything. It's hard but achievable.
Good luck. :)

I'm a big fan of this. If you aren't feeling negative effects, leaving it here for a few more months while locking in your new mental health processes - it's actually precisely what these drugs were developed to do. Short term use.

I don't remember what a sub-clinical dose for Zoloft is....looks like 50mg is the intended low adult dose. Range is 50-200mg. But, see how it goes with your doc.

Glad you are feeling good!
