He just named the dog for the other fallen officer in the partial picture. I'm just venturin' a wild guess...
Oh...How awful... I'm not praying girl but sending love and light to these officers their family, police family and for you @Ka-9..

@Ka-9, I don't understand the meaning of that badge. What does it mean? Could you please explain this for me? Please remember, this is a worldwide forum, and I'm from Europe by the way. I also don't see a link to a newspaper or something, to get information about his or their stories. I'd really appreciate it, if you could provide more factual information. Thank you very much in advance.

Ah, his badge has a blue and black band across it, ironically indicating he is mourning for another recently fallen officer in that photo. Now officers will be wrapping their own badges in his honor in the exact same manner.

The thin blue line across the badge, is an expression of the thin amount of men and women who stand between the evil, and the decent.

Thank you @Ka-9 for this information. But what's his story? I'm asking because I think it obviously was important for you to share his tragedy with us. In other words, what made it so remarkable (sorry, but I'm a bit at loss with words today) that you wanted us to know about it? Isn't there a link or something? I apologize if I'm coming across as insensitive, because I'm not. But I truly like to see the big picture of what you shared with us.

Of course not tree hugger, your questions are not insensitive at all.

There were 5 officers shot again in roughly 30 hrs. This young officer was the most recent one, shot twice in the head by a piece of shit criminal. He was a canine officer, and sadly he had just named his dog in memory of another fallen officer just recently before his death. The irony of that bothered me, and he was a fellow dog handler which is a small world.

I was more affected because of the increasing epidemic of cops killed and ambushed due to weakness of society as a whole.....which is a whole nother story.

Thank you very much for your explanations @Ka-9. I found some info's about him and that other police officer. - I have to say though, I don't understand these incidents. Is it, that hatred towards police has increased? Or is it, that people generally are more ready to use their weapons (readiness to violate others)? And why that hatred towards the police? I don't expect you to answer these questions. It's just mind-boggling to me... Man, I really don't understand this!

In such a case, will the dog be given to another police officer? As I imagine, they shared a close bond, and the dog will surely mourn and miss his friend. Or will he be removed from police work? I imagine, that these dogs could also get traumatized? Thank you again for sharing this with us. I'm going to light a candle in his memory and will surely pray, that his family not falls prey to hatred. As it would destroy their lives further.
