He's doing and saying everything right today. But I know all too well it won't last more than a day or two. My father was the same way making my life a predictable chaos but with unpredictable timing. I hope others can understand/relate to this?

As in either I get ready for things to go wrong, or I start doubting it actually happened. (I mean, /that/ nice? In /my/ life? Not believing that.)

I remember these days. He would be extra special nice and then when he turned into super evil abusive pr*, he would try to throw me off by reminding me of how super nice he was 2 days earlier.

It was a game. A sick and twisted game.
