I have had an ongoing severe stressor for 9 months. I didn't realize how anxious I was or that I had been having a fight or flight response daily for a very long time. I had the sudden onset of muscle twitches and contractions as well as a feeling of electricity/energy flow through my entire body for about 5 months. It only happens when I am relaxed and until last week, my doctor and I thought it only happened when laying down. We initially though is was a withdrawal reaction from an antidepressant, but it has gone on to long. Last week I was sitting upright in the recliner and was relaxed and the noise just from the words I heard my son speak in his bedroom caused me to contract. The louder his voice was, the more severe the contraction. I was litterly close to convulsing. That is when I realized I had hyper reflexia that resulted in twitches. I though could this be PTSD? I did the research and there is no question about the diagnosis, but could anxiety really cause this? Has anyone else experienced this. My doctor had ordered an MRI, but now after knowing I have PTSD and having read others experiences, I think it might just be anxiety related. It's causing me great concern and is extrememly uncomfortable. My body is tense all the time. This is my first time on here. I hope I get some replys.
