We could not hit shit on the range. It was 50 deg C plus on the sand and your goggles fogged up. We were zeroed. It was just to make everyone happy and aclimatise.

Sarg...I was in Khe Sanh Tet 1968...small world!! 120th assualt helicopter company or the 148th...not sure...been to sleep sense then. We got moved all over hell's half acre in January and February.

Jimmy, After I got out I learned to fire a hand gun and rifle without looking at the target....well you look one quick time and and memorize in your mind where the target is at then turn your head away and fire. Takes a bit to develop that skill set.

Like the the smell of burning shit in 55 gal barrels the red dirt of Khe Sanh is something none of us will ever forget. The Marines took the brunt of this battle. Best men who ever lived. I love these guys.

I grew up shooting rabbits with a .22, iron sights. Then I progressed to a 30.06. So when I joined and they had the 7.62 SLR, I was at home. But your right with the visualise crap, its a good skill set.

Me too....22cal every kid I knew had one where I grew up in Texas. 308 was more in use around our place...a good brush gun.
