What Makes You Angry Today?

It certainly bodes ill for those that keep trying to tell us this is not a holy war. Like some here have said, the line in the sand is becoming much less blurry. Look, we have Iraq's oil, Osama is done, send us all home, harden our borders and keep a close watch on the muslims and the rich that make the big bucks throwing these wars.

I'm an old man. I'm allowed to be sick to death of this senseless violence.

I'm with you on this Brother.

I think if the next war they sent only the children of politicians to fight it it would be over in a minute.

Personally I don't give a rats ass about what makes people think differently than me. Coexistence is the name of the game. We don't have to like each other but we do have to live with each other. If you want to change something, change yourself. A world where everyone thinks alike would be boring, stupid and quite honestly scary.

There is a movie I watched off of Netflix today called Semper Fi. It talked about the chemicals found in the drinking water and of how over million people who lived, worked, served or resided in the Camp LeJune area from 1963 to 1997 were drinking contaminated drinking water. The cancer rate is over 5 times the national average and the largest male breast cancer group in the world come from Camp LeJune. Infant mortality and birth defects are through the roof. Some parents had MULTIPLE deaths of newborns while in the Camp. I urge every one to see this movie. In America alone there are over 150 known toxic sites that are related to military bases. 1 in 10 people in the US lives next to a base with a toxic waste dump in it. This move is a true eye opener. Its not just about the problem at Camp LeJune. Its about the military dumping in just about every base that we have.

I just got done reading an article on NPR about the VA and it's backlog of claims. The article was ok. Then I made the mistake of reading the readers comments.

The incomprehensible ignorance of so many people is just mind numbing. The things that were said. I only made it down a couple of comments before my heart was pounding, I was seeing red, and I was in danger of going into a rage. I've been working on calming myself down for some time now.

I know it's been said here on this forum many times by many people, but I wish they understood: Freedom is not free.

[Deleted] It's best this way. I don't want to be accused of [insert offence here].

i hear you barberian these people at the VA are getting well paid and there shouldnt be a back log or employ more staff to clear the backlog. you have served and in the mean time you feel like your constantly jumping through hopes and has anyone in the VA served probably no. so they dont know what you are and other vets are going through which i not only find it discrimimating but shame full aswell. the simple fact that you risk your life for a second rate serice.

The backlog debacle is front page news now. That's why the VA is making a public effort to do something. There is always a vast difference between what the VA says and what they actually do. Personally I'm at the 2 year mark with my current claim. I'd be surprised, shocked actually, if it does get decided on this year. And then, of course, hope that it's decided in my favor or it will be at least 3 or 4 more years in appeal. If I ran a business that way I'd be out in the street.

Well, the positive is that they are talking about your claim, that being it is over two years. What scares me (for you) is that they will just rubber stamp you denied and you'll have to appeal. One thing few are aware of is, if they do deny you, you have a narrow window, I think it's thirty days, to set up a meeting at your RO with a supervising claims official and do a face to face.

If they denied you, when you have conclusive proof to the contrary, he can reverse the denial.

I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for you Jar, you've waited long enough.

Hey Sarg

It's just a waiting game. No one, regardless of the claim can know what they will decide. If it is denied I'll have the DAV on my side to appeal. As well as some local groups that have helped vets in my area in the past. So, as they say, time will tell. And thanks.

What makes me angry? Those stupid f*cking yellow ribbon magnets made in china , sold by profiteers that all these mouthbreathers stick on their cars. If that is supporting your troops, I'm a goddamned gorilla.

Makes me even more pissed off when one of those people that has them cut me off in traffic.

I got a letter on Saturday from the VA. They have decided to make an appointment for some sort of evaluation for me. I will be notified when the appointment is they just wanted to tell me I have an appointment coming. :cautious: I can think of better things for them to do like maybe include the time and date of the appointment. Maybe I don't need to know what they plan to do more of what they ARE doing. Sigh. I would get mad but that's just counterproductive. I need to get even. Maybe I should send a letter back in response telling them of my intent to attend the meeting they plan to announce. I think it would be lost in translation. Maybe I should just get mad and get it out of my system. But then I couldn't prattle on about it in here for this long either.

Brilliant, but it would confuse some paper pusher for the rest of the day. He/she would talk about it on break with other workers. They would all become confused. They would have to schedule a crisis management meeting to schedule a meeting to talk about it. They would discuss it in depth for several days in some far off exotic location with the tax payers footing the bill. Someone would have to schedule a "lessons learned meeting" about the meeting, and disseminate the meeting minuets. Training would then have to be scheduled, once again at a far off exotic location for "team building", so everyone is "onboard" with the new policies regarding the meeting. Before you know it the whole department would cease to function. The FBI and Homeland security would get involved because someone caused the department to cease functioning. They would, after months of investigation, and millions of dollars, come knocking on your door. You would be charged a "threat to homeland security", your bank account(s), and property would be seized as "evidence". The IRS would do a complete audit for the last seven years to find out your "funding" for "terrorist activities". You would spend the next 5-10 years in court as they did all their legal wrestling. Eventually, after all this, you would get your appointment date. :)
