This is coming up A LOT lately. I'm sure you could find the new press about it. The latest was a this photo by ppr.

Those that have seen anchorman get the joke.

I have no issues with women wanton to be in an official combat mos, but do not IMO, expect current grunt units to accept and integrate them. Grunts have enough issues as it is. Women want to make their own infantry companies, than go for it. Just my opinion.

....Women want to make their own infantry companies, than go for it....

Can you imagine that?? Sheesh. :D I'd not want to fight them. Vicious.

Who said "If mother's ruled the world, there would be no war" just didn't get it. And look at Thatcher. She was a mum and had more testosterone than most blokes!!

If women ruled the world there would be peace, however, every 28 days there would be severe negotiations.

Being a pogue, we had some problems with female sigs not being able to hump their own packs let alone with radio's in them. This also posed a problem when we supported the artillery or the grunts. We could carry the extra load, but the girls found it difficult.

I will say this though. I once had a female CPL. She ran her detachment of guys better than most male NCO's. At one stage she was all we had left to send to the grunt regt. The CO at the time said no way, she could not cut it. We challenged his best grunt. She missed the pushups by 10, beat him in chin ups and almost matched him for the 3.2 km run with rifle and webbing.

Yet, when she went out on the town she looked like a true girly girl.

She tried out for the Para's and got accepted then chose to quit and have kids. She proved to other women though that if they had what it took, it could be done.

In all honesty, women are great, but the natural male instinct which is stronger than training, is to protect the female. And that would be hard in a combat situation.

I guess some training would be more natural for them than us. I certainly couldn`t get my legs that far apart

I also think a more suitable headdress would be called for. something a bit more DPM and not something that goes with the underwear they are wearing.

I had to laugh at the colour. The USA supplied water bottles for the East Timorese Defence Force, I bet you would never guess the colour, or should I say colours.

Idiots in power.

I was in during the first experimentation with mixed crew. I also happen to live in one of the most "equal" societies on earth and worked for many years in global shipping companies (one of the biggest male dominated good ole boy clubs on earth) I also happen to have two lovely daughters and managed to be married for 6 years. In that time I lived with my Mother in Law for 7 months. I got all sides of this coin covered.

So I'll say this. Where I get a bit upset about the whole "sex" game in society is when elemental facts are tossed out the window for the sake of equality. I swear if male mammary gland implants were acceptable and feasible, a quarter of the male Norwegian population would be made to get them so they too could breast feed. Furthermore you stick 1000 people of mixed gender on a ship and send them out for six months.... somebody is going to end up pregnant, married, divorced, orgied, raped, heartbroken, gay or bisexual. Nature will not be thwarted.

So to say that the biological does not exist with respects to the military. Well. that is a politicians solution. Anyone who says that training and brainwashing is going to over rule any and all evolutionary or societal role creation in 3 to 6 months is more stoned than a Mecca adultress.

I'm not saying a woman can't do what a man can. Not at all. I also don't think it's a problem for gays to be in the military. (Shut up Anglesachse) Different side of the same coin really. But there is a point of departure from common sense where I have to say no way. It does not work in the real world and it does not work in the military.

Or perhaps it doesn't really matter. In a few years time all our soldiers will be fat flatulent teenagers eating Funyuns and swilling a 2l of coke while zapping Chinese from a drone console.

"Nice kill soldier"
"Thanks sir"
"Need more funyuns"
"Nah, I'm good"

 Didn`t say a bloody word, Didn`t even think it. :(

Well ok just a little ;)

Don`t you just hate it when people know whats coming LMAO

We have women in all trades here in Canada. So, some observations;

Personnality type A. A fine tanker, can swing a sledge better then most guys, but in the end got frustrated because the guys still wouldn't let her do her job and got out. Type A is VERY RARE.

Type B. A fine tanker, could pump the rounds into the gun faster then the gunner could fire them. Did her 3 years, proved that she could do it and got out. About 40% of the women that get in seem to do it just to prove that they can. Very poor return on investment from the Army's perspective.

Type C. Dedicated, kept plugging away, made Sgt in 15 years, (took me 17) and knows her shit. And the Regiment sent her to teach, while her husband has done 5 tours now. I'd be ballistic if I were her right now, but it's hard to get past the "protect mom DNA strain."

Type D. Got in to prove they could, couldn't so the guys pick up the slack. About 40% of the girls fall in this category. BUT, about 30% of the guys do too. So be fair, not everyone can do everything. Sprocket bolts take 100ftpds of tourque. I wieghed 220 pds. Just the thought of getting that tourque wrench out was enough to make my back hurt.

So, can women be tankers? Yes, if the guys would let them. But in the end, I think evolution hasn't caught up with our Politically Correct Idealism. GUYS still need to evolve abit.

Good point Zip. Funny enough, similar debate going on in the papers over here. Why do the Politically Correct Brigade try and ignore basic biology?
I've worked with plenty of lasses who are bloody good at the job, and sensible enough to leave certain tasks to the blokes. No chauvinism, just being grown up.
Blokes and women are different (Yes, Alan, they are) and I'm very happy with that.
