Well, An old dog can change as I am finding out. Was in Nam when Nam was not a war anymore. Black Ops with a team of Rangers while at Bragg. Was volunteered by my LT at the time. I wasn't asked but told I had volunteered because I was part of the company shooting team plus had a nack for fixing anything electronic. In country to find POW's as North Nam said there went any. Plus there to do some wet work that needed doing to get the POW's that we found reported so we could get them out. Likes a few months being 40 years since I was there. Really screwed me up. But as my MSG of a Dad told me when I got out "Be a man an live with it". Did for about 30 years, Put am attempting to finally get help from the VA PTSD program an therapy. Wish I had not waited so long. Might have been a better father an husband back when my kids were at home. O well that is a fast an brief history of the Shadow.

Any one here from 25th Signal Bn Fort Bragg or stationed at Natz, Italy. Looking for a guy that nickname was Rebel Devil that was a Ranger. Carlos Pavlos, Bob Burdick, Tom Zehringer from my Italy days.

Shadow,
Even after years and years of listening to things like "live with it" "suck it up buttercup" "put it behind you" to mention just a few, I'm still amazed at how few have any understanding of the impact that combat has on anyone who has been through it. I'm even more amazed at questions like "why don't WWII vets suffer from PTSD"?

The answer is simple. They do. But, for years no one bothered to understand them, much less help them. All combat vets have been wounded in one form or another. PTSD requires treatment the same as physical wounds. If not cared for it will cause huge problems.

Adjusting to a world where you no longer fit has to be your number one priority because until you find ways to deal with your wounds you will not be able to take advantage of what the world still has to offer you. And there are still lots of things that are worth while.

Keep looking each and every day.

Very moving Thank you

Man, you freaking nailed it with that one. Even when things are going good for me, symptom wise, I just don't fit. Don't think I ever will, but that's okay.
An the funny thing I don't think I will ever fit. Just turned 60 an my own Mother an Brother which are army brats from life with Dad retirement. I don't even feel like I fit there. I am loved but it just is strange. Thanks.

That feeling of estrangement never goes away. Sometimes it does but it lurking right behind you.

What year Ranger School? I was USAF PJ CSAR. Went Army Airborne and Ranger school. Did some infil and exfils into Laos and Cambodia. Fish Hook mostly. I am a bit older so doubt we crossed trails.

But welcome. Always glad to see another Ranger.
