Getting out there and shooting the shooter? W/o really having any training in how to do that? Foolish to think it's that easy.

I never said that. I actually said that if you are given a gun you should have manditory classes to learn how to carry it responsibly. Maybe look back at my previous posts. Never did I say anyone should be given/sold a gun and just go shooting.

Ballistic armor

All day long? Since you have no idea when a house evasion or an armed robbery will happen. Ok. Your opinion. Mine is different. And i imagine changing out your entire wardrobe for ballistic body armor is damn expensive!

And just to repeat. I personally hate guns and would never own one because I am a reaponsible person and I know that is too easy for me to take the easy way out. But I am also not so naitve to think that outlawing guns will do anything. I can go onto the deep web right now and buy a gun in the black market. And countries that have guns outlawed also have a higher number of bombings. Which has the potional of much higher life loss. Ban guns. I don't care. Won't affect me. But it will affect many others from RESPONSIBLE handling of them to defend themselves and their families from the criminals that can buy a gun (any gun) on the black market in 2 seconds, even if outlawed.

@hodge how did you find the kid's pages. I have been wanting to show support for them and haven't known how. Whether gun control is the answer or not, these kids are showing strength and a lot of resourcefulness and deserve respect and support.

Agreed 1,000% and my dad said that in Vietinam they were locked up on the airbase (he was in the airforce) and one person had the key. So, those guns were even locked away from military on warfare grounds

Actually, that logic isn’t entirely inaccurate, I don’t think? As it’s arguable only a madman would speak out, with the penalties that followed.

I don't know. That's what he said. Maybe an airbase is different then another branch? Maybe it was different back then than now. I dunno. He was speaking of a specific kind of assualt weapon though. Can't remember the name of it. Wish I could. M80 maybe? I think back then ('64 - '68 I believe was the years he was in Vietnam) it was an M60 but honestly not sure. He doesn't talk a ton about his time over there a lot. It was relivent to the Fl school shooting though as that's what we were talking about.

No, but you are saying that individuals need to be able to purchase guns so they can defend themselves against shooters. Only bullets best bullets.

I’m saying that all the range practice in the world is not going to help you in an armed hostile situation. The average (non-military, non-law enforcement) citizen is not going to use their gun effectively in the home invasion scenario. They are statistically more likely to be injured or lose their weapon.

Ballistic armor has come a long way. I’ve got no idea why the average joe thinks they are well-served with a concealed carry permit and a gun under their coat, but without any real protection for themselves. If the logic is, “I want to be able to defend myself against a gun” - well, in order to do that, you’ll get fired on.

I believe most gun deaths in the home in the US are accidental - they aren’t resulting from well armed citizens taking down all these hypothetical home invaders.

I’m not saying anything except this: the argument that citizens need guns to defend themselves against gun-toting criminals is a very weak one, with little logic. There are safer and smarter ways to protect yourself.

I will take any active shooter defense test scenario known to man and pass it with flying colors.
What is little logic is a nation at war for over a decade thinking buring our heads in the sand and sticking our ass in the air with our pants down isn't gunna give some psycho a boner.

I mean so far all these gun free zones have prevented zero school shootings... where's the logic dude?
So far they've managed to stop law abiding citizens. This isn't about school shootings this is about a government take over of a people.

You mean to tell me an armed cop at your house during an armed robbery doesn't give you a higher probability of survival? That's basically liberal anti-gun logic about armed guards and conceal carry. People who haven't been in harms way when some ones trying to kill them with out a gun.

People forget entire wars were fought with out body armor until Vietnam and the flak vest.
I'm a got damn war prodigy I ain't worried about vests. I got a plate carrier but daily life?
Not worried about it. Anybody around here that's doing a shooting doesn't have the training and range time that I do.
I can draw concealed and hit a target in a second. Probably under a second with a single action Glock trigger.
Of course with adrenaline and fear there's going to be some slips or clumsiness. But I'll manage.
Wouldn't be my first time being shot at.

Reading body language in advance? That's at least another second or two to act as well.

Chances are I'll never run into anything like that though.

Body armour.
Yeah...

It's nice, don't get me wrong. I love my vest. But, it's got some downsides.
It's heavy. 30lbs+ and that's not including trauma plates for the sides.
It's hot, bulky, stinks, the more you wash it, the less it works.
The carrier is kevlar, which has a short life before you need to replace it.
Doesn't protect your head, legs, groin, shoulders or neck. Which leaves the brain as well as carotid, brachial, iliac and femoral arteries exposed to the world.

Just because the bullet won't penetrate, doesn't mean it won't leave you seriously injured and helpless.
Fractured bones and serious bruising are certainly possible.
Did I mention it's heavy?

Spalding from the impacting round can leave you blind in a firefight.

It's one of those things where, if it works YeeHAA!

If not. Well, any complaints to the manufacturer, probably won't be made by you...

I couldn't imagine trying to get a kid to wear one, let alone lug it around all day.
Wouldn't be the kind of protection I'd want to bring along for prom night either, if you get my meaning. ;)

There will always be arguments for and against guns. I get that. Some people feel that because of the second amendment that the right to bear arms is good and solid. I get that too.

I think the bigger argument in today’s society isn’t guns, it’s assault rifles, bump stocks, and any other gun that can mow down a group of people in seconds.

The argument today is about having COMMON SENSE. Does a person really need an assault rifle? Does one really need a bump stock? Should a kid of 18 have the right to buy a gun or assault rifle when they can’t walk into a bar to buy a drink or buy cigarettes in many states? Especially when it’s been shown that their brains haven’t fully developed and many at that age still don’t show the ability to make a decision based on facts and not emotions.

This isn’t about taking your guns away, or stopping you from buying a gun. This is about common sense, about protecting your rights, but also about protecting the rights of those that don’t want guns on every street corner. The ones that don’t want guns in schools. The ones that don’t want 1 more senseless killing with an assault rifle that has no purpose in civilians hands.

If anyone of you can explain to me why bump stocks or assault rifles should be in the hands of civilians and children of 18 yrs old please explain this to me!!!!!!!

They shouldn't. And I don't think anyone for guns is saying they should. Assualt rifles belong in war grounds only in my opinion. And Rick Scott is already proposing the gun age limit to be 21. Its already in motion.
