I have an amazing trauma psychologist for almost 4 years now. During the Fall she found a small support group with another therapist. (A social worker) This group is not really organized, not consistent (usually 2x a month) and boundaries can be an issue. (Therapist, checks phone a lot and does a lot for her clients) I did try quitting and she begged me not to. Anyhow-these past few weeks I’ve been a mess. She has emailed me multiple times asking how I’m doing and offering a session. She is also a hugger. (I don’t think it’s bad-I like hugs) But I’m finding a conflict between the two therapist. My current one has strict boundaries for my safety. She said the group therapist does not. She said there is an ethical concern. My psych is going on vacation next month and does not want me to see the group therapist.
I love this therapist reaching out to me and checking on me-she says I’m never a bother and ends her short short email with “hugs.” But I don’t want there to be a conflict between the two. Thoughts!
