Atheist unite!!

To your question:

Words, no. But parts of the concepts or different takes on the same concept, yes.

And thoughts about using psychedelics for healing purposes?

Yep to this one though. It is a bad juju. As in more risk than gain. And difficult as hell to find people knowing what they are doing, who not only say but can guide you through the adversity, emotionally AND physiologically.

I'm an atheist, religion is pretty much absent were I live. Some people go to church on Sundays, but that's more out of habit and about a piece of culture than because of their beliefs.

One friend/Coworker of mine is Christian. We were talking about my issues, and about her husband who is in some sort of crisis aswell. But the waitinglist for a christian psychologist is really, really long. So I asked her what value that had over a regular psychologist. We talked about that.
Suddenly she started projecting her religion on my problems. I told her I got myself up last time, and will get myself up again this time. She asked me how I knew it wasn't God that picked me up last time.
That angered me big time.

I have no problem with religious people whatsoever, but don't start that shit with me. Because I don't want to insult you or your religion. But I don't believe in a God. Telling me I should give my power over my recovery away to something bigger is about the stupidest thing I could do.

Plus, if there were a God, imo he's not a kind God.

Yes!!! (I wanted to say "amen" but isn't that odd to say in an athiest thread? It's out of...
Yeah, this is where people lose me when trying to convince me. If I ask them why so much bad stuff is happening, thats the devil. Bad stuff happens to good christians to, so apparently when you obey God you're still vulnerable to devil stuff. Almighty God is not so almighty after all then.
Seems to me, your better off worshipping the devil, right?
Thats when religious folk stop talking to me and say Ill go to hell.

Im talking about people in the street or knocking on my door trying to 'show me the light'

The Devil is the perfect scapegoat for Christianity.

I'm not a strict atheist nor am I religious, I believe there was a Creator, I believe there was a Jesus Christ, nothing from either of them has bearing on how I have lived my life. Faith has many aspects, you don't need a God or church to have any sort of faith.

I think not everyone defines as christian or atheist, completely black and white.
The thing is, atheism is completely black and white.

I dont believe in gods, angels, spirit or a beyond. Or anything religious or spiritual, really.

I think our human brains are always looking for an explanation, and in many cultures, when they couldnt explain stuff, they invented gods.
Being beings that like structure and understand the concept of cause and effect, we followed certain rules because that would please the gods, and thus religion was born.
Anything that tries to keep you from thinking for yourself seems dangerous to me.
