A new study shows that for 25 percent of young adults given a psychological assessment, the 2016 US presidential election race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton caused symptoms often seen in those with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Is it stealing when it's attributed?
<chuckling> I suspect the cops would think so, if I held up a bank unmasked and shouting my name. But I suppose we could always give it a go?

Seriously though,,.

...I want to study the psychological effects of the election on youth! Now who has money??? Ah! PTSD! I’ll just write my study, apply for the grants, and publish my results with thooooooose buzzwords prominently featured.

:shifty: buzzards & vultures. The lot of them.

I know about an anthropologist who decided to study the life cycle of some worm so he could go to the Fiji for 6 months.

That's why I'm in it for the IgNobel. Much better praise of actual science :P (this is a joke in my head but I don't think anyone gets it)

I can’t help but think....

Yeah, what is a “flashback” to normies is just a bad memory about an unpleasant past experience that pops up in their head, whereas a ptsd FLASHBACK is a full on sensory hijacking....HUUUUGE difference!!! Repeat this down the whole list of symptoms and really, there’s no comparison.

I say this as someone who just today asked my therapist about being bipolar only to be told no, I’m nowhere near being bipolar even though I may appear “bipolar” to other people, and question it myself as someone who even experiences symptoms which (to an untrained eye) COULD be interpreted as bipolar symptoms. (She’s like the 542nd professional I’ve had who has confirmed I am not bipolar.) So I say this as it really does take a trained person to determine what actually IS ptsd VS “stress”.....as in, ongoing one on one time with the client in order to understand what’s really going on.

But yeah, shit like this pisses me off.

“The 2016 election gave me PTSD!”

(Which is the next step, right?)

Oh please ?
