Hi there, I've been on this forum before, ( a couple of years ago) and decided to register again after being inactive for some time. I would like to introduce myself more but feel very blank right now. So sorry for the shortest introduction ever, but glad to be on this forum and read about others who are going trough the same stuff. I am female, in my mid forty's and raising a wonderfull child in puberty. Been suffering from PTSD for my whole adult life and it taking its toll on my physical healt and personality. Despite of getting mental help from a specialized therapist, nothing seems to help lift my mood and break my isolation. Insecurity, depression and feeling overly sensitive are my biggest struggles at the moment. Thanks for all the active members on this forum for sharing your experiences.

Welcome back to the forums. Your post sounds similar to where I am with things. Mid 40's, kids, PTSD taking its toll. Glad you are working with someone. You are not alone

Thanks Invisible Fire, the kindness of your comment almost made me cry. Allthough I know I am not alone, it sure feels like it at the moment. Thanks for relating to my introduction. What are your experiences with the toll it takes?

biggest would be my mental health and relationships. I'm exhausted trying to keep my head above water. Its like I'm always struggling against the current to keep from drowning

Yes, I can relate to that. It is pretty exhausting at times.
Hopefully there will be better times where the need to struggle to make it trough life will be milder. Strength to you Invisible Fire. May the current be with you ?

It's good that you're reaching out, especially to people here who will get you. I pray you find kind support here. Keep with the therapy. Take each day at a time. I understand being hyper-sensitive. This is my lifelong theme. I've learned that 25% of the population is a HSP (highly sensitive person), so this means 75% of the world will think you are over-sensitive, will not get you, and will offend you! This knowledge has helped me understand myself and let others off the hook because they don't mean to hurt me but are just different than me. I take my feelings to safe places - I journal (rather than dump on people who can't and/or won't help) and I take them to the Lord. It's okay to be insecure - we all are at times. I just want you to have hope and to know you have something valuable to offer others.
