I would appreciate it if you stop making incorrect assumptions and passing those around.
Ditto.

Back away from the shouty capitals & bold BS... and try re-reading what I wrote. I quoted 2 posts... your belief that you have no choice, and that other people do, in the exact same situation.

Any symptoms -and your actions following them- are not things I’ve brought up, but are things that you yourself have posted, and other members are responding directly to.

It has nothing to do with whether I like/dislike it, or any other words you’ve decided to put in my mouth and run with. What *I* did, was read your post where you were rather desperate about having “no choice” clicked to the next page, and read where you expressed the exact opposite view for everyone else.

That’s a super common self defense mechanism, and often one people don’t notice until it’s pointed out to them. So I pointed it out. How you chose to take that? Was to go even more defensive and accuse me of a helluva lot of shit I never said, for motives I don’t have. You wanna talk about making assumptions? Paragraphs and paragraphs of lashing out, for one line of mine.

You could have taken what I said any number of ways, including letting yourself off the hook once you realized you were holdin yourself to a different standard. Or by not feeling trapped without choices, realizing that the choices you see for others are choices you yourself can make. Or by seeing many many other things. Including things that you brought up, and how you acted in the past / that you’ve now been challenged on by other members ...may not be the way you want to act in the future... By coming to a better understanding of what those govt. recommendations really are.

How you’re choosing to react/respond? By getting even more defensive and acting like you’re being attacked for doing the right thing, rather than beliefs being challenged, or being given better/more detailed information than you previously had? Might also be something to think on. Seriously think on, rather than reacting blindly to.

Seems like you’ve got 2 totally different standards running... what other people should do, and what you should do. Might want to have a think on that.
^^^ The sum total of what I said to you^^^

YOU responded by talking about how you had a sore throat and went to work anyway. Not me. I didn’t bring that up. So knock it the f*ck off with the blame shifting pity party & lashing out.

There's going to be a lot of good and bad things that come out of this, too many to think about but....

I find this thread interesting, not because of the ideas expressed or the facts or news articles shared; not even the ridiculous arguments. I find this thread interesting because the overall tone has shifted dramtically.

A month ago, less stress, less concern, some thinking, some planning.
A month later: like chaos. You can read panic, judgement and fear in a lot of what's written.

It's interesting, sort of a micro system of the basic breakdown of humanity as it was a month ago to how it is now.

Also find this interesting: lots of quotes about deaths etc from
other things like suicide and this virus isn't all that bad (going back to febs thought on it) and then this:

Deaths of Corona within the entire country: 0.
0 deaths 3 weeks ago, 781 now according to the article Anthony posted. That's just the states. I don't even want to look into Europe where they're 2/3 weeks ahead of the USA. And these numbers, double in a few days. then double again. Exponential math gets crazy high crazy fast.

Personally- chillin, amused that the world that tells me how "lucky" i am to not have a job now feels how shitty it is to be stuck at home everyday. How bored, restless, they are. How terrifying it is going out in the world. Mental health is going down. Welcome to my world bitches.

Sad- so many people will lose their lives. So many people will have to choose who loses their lives. And when it's done? Well, costco's not accepting returns on toilet paper.

Yup. Everyone just needs to accept what is, chill out, and no amount of stress or such is going to change what is happening outside our control.

Control is often what causes many symptoms. You feel you don't have any, you become anxious, then depressed, angry, so forth. Accept that none of us control much of anything, however, we all control how we feel, act and respond to everything in our lives, regardless what is going on uniquely to us.

Anyone who has gone to war, should pretty much already have this realisation from that. Its a quick learning curve that one compared to just practising for war.

Everything else is the same. You only control you. What you do. What you feel. Why you feel it and for what reason. You choose. That is factually evidenced. It cannot be disputed.

You control you. Everything else just happens around us and we choose how something affects us. Change your choices based on fact. Do you control the third party event causing you to feel x?

The press conference I just watched they are backing off here right now. The tone just changed dramatically it seems in the last 24 hours . Things are not as bad as we were told they were going to be was the feeling I got.

Some other developments seem to be playing out some of the things they were saying sounds like the states are going to far with lockdowns and the feds are going to issue new guidelines.

I'm not surprised at this turn of events. One of my daughters programs email me today. A Catholic charity they do so much with the handicapped. They said the closures were extended by the governor out into May . They also told us with all the people they deal with, and it's substantial, no one is sick.

I think it's going to go differently. I'm thinking sooner, but we'll see.

Go for the worst, hope for the best.

Countries just need to ensure they don't jump the gun on good news. The whole purpose is to slow the virus until a treatment exists. No treatment, then anyone of any age with compromised immune / existing breathing difficulties (think everyone with asthma) / health problems, is likely to die if they get this and our ICU's can't cope.

It gets very messy quickly when out of control.

I also agree that the longer industries are closed and people out of work, the worse financial recovery will be for countries. That is a huge factor in all this.

^A month ago, just going on the maths the problem was dawning on us all. A month ago we had virtually no information except for that which was being given out by WHO & China. So much has changed since one month ago.

People do change as situations change. It's the rate of change that goes against us in this fight. We need time to adjust - whatever that means for each individual. Unfortunately the virus is banking on us baulking at change. If we stay in our usual routine it will put us at risk. Being forced to change, especially rapidly is awkward, difficult & challenging.

I don't see so much panic, judgement or fear here on this forum. I sure don't see ridiculous argument.

I do see expressions of uncertainty...of not knowing what to do, what to decide, who to believe. Uncertainty about the future & what that might look like; of the perhaps delicate structures of our lives & how fragile we all really are.

And yeah lack of control. Yet if we assess ourselves closely, there are some things that are in our control.

I think some people who have spent a lot of their lives building towards certain goals - whatever they are - feel frustrated & I can certainly understand that.

Some people are just managing to step back into society after long periods of isolation due to ptsd, and I mean the real social isolation where communication with other humans hasn't been a feature of their lives. Not simply physical isolation.

Now, as in my case, for my welfare those tentative steps outward into social areas have stopped.

Fighting against a organism that is fighting us to survive is all that is real right now.

Unfortunately the only thing in my control is to stay the hell out of the way. I cannot contribute anything meaningful to the fight except to give distance. That's something I am pretty good at thanks to ptsd.

Yeah- I feel lucky there too @blackemerald1 - I still isolate so this has been easy and I mentioned in my diary a guilt about it feeling a relief and distraction from my PTSD triggers being constantly pinged.

It feels heinous to find silver linings in something that’s causing trauma for others. Like - how I feel about rape jokes. :(

I think the panic in societies as wholes, is starting to subside a little. People are knowing shops are still open, food is available, even though isolation protocols are in place.

It would not surprise me if martial law is implemented eventually just to curb stealing and such things that are starting to increase due to high unemployment. I don't see that as a bad thing. We need to slow the crazy too... so as many as possible get to the other side, recover, and then life goes forward with a whole new experience base to work from.

We've already figured out the vaccine. I don't get why people don't remember that. Corona is close to SARS and MERS

@Mee

The difference being, you are not joking / making light of / mocking (all v different thing) the trauma of others.

You're finding strength in some awful times, increasing personal resilience and toughening up for times to come & a long wait, and finding how to relieve stress in a healthy way... as humor.

So no need to feel bad.
You are literally not being awful by finding a way to laugh, as your humor is targetting the bad event(s), not the people they affect.

@Deanna subtype of SARS may be still enough specific as to other vaccines rendered unfunctional, much less mass scale.
