^of course his name is Dr Brilliant :hilarious: that's awesome though.

Oh I bet :/
You got any moisturiser? Or failing that, maybe a little olive oil to rub into your hands?

Yeah but have ezcema which makes it that much harder. Can bring some to work but with how much washing and hand sanitizing I am doing, wont stay on there long. Maybe right when i get to my desk. Had hand lotion to must needs.

Trying to do schoolwork or think it's important right now feels futile. I feel like I'm pushing a boulder up a hill. I don't know how to get it done when none of it gets in my head.

My brain isnt working either. Which is something I have to say on almost every call. Grrr!.

ETA: im sorry @ms spock! That sounds horrible!

They stopped letting us use hand lotion in the hospital in 2003 or 2004 (I kind of forget), because... come to find  .... every freaking germ in the place was crawling up the nozzle and setting up shop in the lotion like it was agar agar. So we were santizing our hands, gelling in and out, gloving up, washing, washing, washing, everything we were supposed to do ...and then smearing them with every pathogenic creepy crawlie in the building. Head. Desk.

The surgeons turned us onto beeswax tins, at that point.

They’re tiny, and as such get tossed rather often, sometimes daily but weekly at least (rather than the giant jugs of hand lotion that last weeks and months), but more importantly? Beeswax is also inhospitable to most microbes. Not antimicroboal, per se, it won’t kill them... but it also won’t grow them. Voila! LOVE beeswax ointment tins.

Also more than a little creeped out, any time I enter a hospital and see those stupid giant tubs of hand lotion being used by the nursing staff. I just close my eyes and repeat maybe they came up with an anti microbial formula, maybe they came up with an anti microbial formula, maybe they came up with an anti microbial formula like freaking Dorothy clicking her heels in Oz. :shifty: But one of my professors said it’s about a 5 year cycle on hospital hand lotion... the bottles are tested, pop Holy Freaking Batman, hospitals discontinue their use, then after a couple of years they start creeping back into desks until they’re in widespread use. Increased nosocomial infections spur the hospital infection team to start testing everything... rinse, lather, repeat. Since the 1970s. I just happened to be working in one during one of the purges. :wtf: So gross. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I was there then... but no one wants to walk into a hospital and have their first reaction be “Eeeew. Gross.” (Maybe they came up with an antimicrobial forumla. Maybe they came up with an antimicrobial forumla. Maybe they came up with an antimicrobial forumla.)

re: Michigan, I found this opinion from Dr. Teena Chopra, medical director of infection prevention and hospital epidemiology at Detroit Medical Center:
In Detroit, "this population is very high risk with high incidence of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease. Also, the other factors like social determinants of health play a big role in getting them appropriate health care. As an epidemiologist, I have always expected this surge in Detroit because ... they haven't had access to health care. There are still communities ... in Detroit that don't have access to clean water. I mean, there's so many social issues as well, that we have our population in Detroit is facing. When patients with COVID are coming to us, they're already very severe."

You can read the rest of the article here.

Our toilet paper is back. Check your Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. I just went.

Our local police department keeps an updated list posted to social media every day which store is out of stock of what (TP, rice, pasta, sanitizer, ....)

Maybe something to pitch to county PDs? Obviously not feasible for larger areas, but it would help avoid having people to run around in search of stuff (and risk exposure or risk infecting others)

We live in the home of Wal-Mart HQ. There is toilet paper at Wal-Mart Neighbor hood markets. We may be closer than some but you can bet your bottom dollar TP is on the way. Big time! Water was even there.. So bye-bye shortage. I'll find them on facebook or call. Thanks!

Yeah, or have someone from the community do it. Absolutely. Our PD did it on their own initiative. Just thought it's a great idea and wanted to share.
I shared on facebook. It'll get out in no time but we have a 'ga zillion Neighborhoid Markets here.. So I bet it is old news. I don't mind sharing on my business page. People know who I am ( well, some people, of-course)
