Update from Michigan.

4,658 infected
111 deaths.
Recoverd 100,000 +
Numbers are doubling every 3 days.

I'm in the Detroit Metro area which has been hit the hardest. Our hospitals are overflowing so we are making one of our arenas a makeshift hospital. (they cancelled the Autorama which is a huge auto show that brings in millions of dollars into the area)

GM and Ford are making masks and face shields. A close friend of mine is on the GM team making masks. They transformed their machines in 4 days. Ford is making face shields and started before even being asked!! (Ford girl here, through and through)

Stores are fairly stocked still except for toilet paper. I have a small Mom and Pop shop near me and they are still fully stocked. (Shhh)

My niece who lives way up north had a fever and was short of breath for 9 days. Her fever finally broke on Friday.

Our healthcare workers are amazing!! The heroes in this fight.

Our govenor finally pulled her head out of her ass and declared an emergency and has now gone through the proper channels to get federal aid.

Everyone is getting a little stir crazy around here. I met a few friends this morning for coffee. We tailgated at a park near us. It was funny because it was the park we all partied at when we were teens. Now we're old and drinking coffee. On Friday, 8 of us had a video chat through FB messenger. Happy hour just isn't the same but it was so much fun!!

People are coming together. Working together. Sharing what they can. Some people are doing crappy stuff but they would be doing the same even if this wasn't happening.

Our police force is also being affected. Some positive for the virus and many in quarantine. Our Chief of Police has been diagnosed positive. We have lost 3 officers so far to the virus.

Stay safe my friends!

After clearing about 3/4 of the call center bodies out and still moving more out, and then sitting us 9 feet from each other, caticorner, they are asking everyone to take our temp every day before going to work. Gave us the normal range and said anything above 100 (point something) or over stays home. In addition to the normal sanization stuff we've been doing. Which is a nice additon. All good here.

ETA: Though hands getting so dry from the constant washing and alcohol on them.

@Strangelongtrip That important bit is easy :sneaky:

As in crises & emergencies show just *how* important it is in life to have learned things & learned them right.

Maybe grab what of schoolwork topics relates - or could have - to current survival needs? See if that sinks in better.

... and stats wise we're also at double the infected rate, so 2K something, 8 more deaths, most seniors with preexisting conditions, crime & people being dangerously stupid still about stagnant, prosocial people in multitude ways making me happy as f*ck.

So yesterday after I got stung by a wasp my arm from my wrist to my elbow swelled up, went a vivid red colour, spiraled around and I was in immense pain. So I rang Qld Health and the Nurse said I had to see a Doctor. I am not going into a medical centre or a hospital they don't need folks coming into comment with me. I waited for 40 minutes to get a home doctor and applied online only to be told that the doctors wouldn't take anymore patients. My arm is swelling and I rang and couldn't get through for four services but luckily I found a tele conferencing doctor which I had to pay for, but you know not spreading Covid19 is important, or if it's a cold still not needed to be spread around. I got no sick leave for being off one of the Qld Health folks was so misinformed saying everyone was being contact tracing well a friend popped up on Twitter earlier the day before, no thermometer testing, no social distancing and no information arriving in Sydney. At one point someone else had received a flyer and then there's the Ruby Princess Cruise ship which my friend's family were all on, so they are in lockdown. But what an misinformed so and so. I almost said read the World Health Organisation or hey perhaps watch the news, but I didn't. I am doing the right thing. I haven't been out since Feb, you know my contribution to flattening the curve, but I got the steroids. I took two phenergan straight away, and whilst I waited on hold for a couple of hours I took one more - three's the maximum for the day. If I hadn't taken those immediately it would have been a hospital visit. My arm went bright red and throbbed and the rash just kept on spreading. The nurse said I need a management plan - that's for sure. So my arm is still red and swollen. Doing the right thing was time consuming, expensive and at one point I said to B if I go to hospital I will lived down the other end of the house away from you. So I was going to go to the medical centre but then no so a at home doctor's visit and no one is put at risk. Medical professionals in Australia don't have as good PPE as the cleaners in Singapore schools. They are all alarmed but just keep turning up. Apparently 1 in 10 sick from Covid19 are medical professionals in Italy. So that derailed the day a bit. I am really tired. I need a break.
