I think you'd have to be a bit of an accounting whiz to make it work
Yep. This is what Nicolette does. She can make it work for some clients who have the cash reserves, to help keep their doors open for the coming months even though income is significantly reduced, and keep most of their people employed, but for those who simply do not have those cash reserves... none of this is going to help.

Banks are still charging customers the full interest amount, including compounding interest whilst the loan repayments are on hold. Yes, no payments now. But -- on completion of the hold period, your interest rate increases + you have to still pay all the interest accrued during that period.

There is still no solid evidence that credit ratings will no be affected either.

There are people running around now claiming they won't pay their rent for six months, because the Government said you can't be evicted. BUT -- you will still be evicted on that day of expiry + your rental record will be tarnished forever. You will not escape unscathed. Obviously all bond will be lost too.

None of this is as great as being explained once you start looking into all the terms and conditions. Even those T&C's are changing daily. There is no easy way out of this for anyone who cannot make their repayments, without penalty to them, whether direct or indirect.

Nicolette is having to stay abreast of all the finance stuff to inform her clients -- and its good if you have business savings -- bad if you do not. None of this will save, hibernate, or otherwise, your business or employee's if you do not have savings to pay the minimal costs required to get through this period.

We have taken a mortgage holiday. Our credit rating will have to take the hit.

@Justmehere, I am so sorry you are going through this. Being one of many doesn’t make less for you. ALL of us here know this. Going through this experience at the same time - a collective trauma - might mean at least there is less unpleasantness about the impact of this trauma.

a friend of my dad’s died. I didn’t know him. Similarly- someone I hardly knew - friend of DH’s family. Weirdly though our entire northern Italian network is fine still.

In early Feb I went out wearing a mask and gloves, to the supermarket and everyone stared at me, but I didn't care. Now more and more folks are doing it.
Yeah, theatre masks are useless after 15 mins, FFP3 masks last two hours, but if you have a supply of them, consider donating to your local hospital. Gloves are useless, cos if you wear gloves to the supermarket, most people are touching everything with their gloved hands which is as good as um.. ungloved hands. If you really wanna protect shit you touch, wear one glove to touch things, one ungloved hand to touch shit like your pocket and wash yo hands when you leave.

PPE means absolute shit if its worn all day basically. Gloves touch as much as hands do, masks get gross and soggy and absorb shit like a mouthhole does. Aprons worn all day are basically just adult bibs. PPE means shit unless its changed, way more often than any random people do. So theyre wasting resources, out of a lack of knowledge, not even maliciously. It's just useless as f*ck, outside of making them feel like they did something.

It's a source of daily amusement for me to watch. People standing around wearing their mask all day... not even comprehending that the mask does not stop them getting the virus, but only stops them spreading it if they have it. Again, back to meeting longevity of a masks ability to do its job.

Unless you have an unlimited supply of BA gear, and use it to live from (which just isn't feasible), then you are exposed to this. How exposed is up to each person by not following some basic hygiene and environmental practices.

I don't know when those in the US is supposed to get those relief checks. Maybe I don't qualify? But, the 1st is tomorrow. Way too short for many to pay their rent!

I’ve a feeling the longer this goes on the more people are going to stop bothering with the social-distancing. A week into lockdown here and they are already giving up following the guidelines in the stores and are complaining about the fact that they're supposed to. Some are getting sh*tty. Give it a few weeks, I reckon, and few people will be complying when it comes to keeping their distance. I hope I’m wrong about that, but based upon what I’m seeing, I doubt it.

I'm seeing this here to in Orlando area. About 30% to 40% more cars today then any other day. I don't think people here are gonna stay home much longer.

The MANY bodied parties seem to have stopped. Maybe less partying "yay, no work" and more "oh f*ck, how am I gonna pay bills" setting in? Who knows.

@Justmehere, thinking of you! for what it's worth!

So here in NZ, every morning at 9am, one of our free to air TV channels runs an hour long gym-from-home workout.

Very cool.

Do any other countries have similar?

Our local gym offers virtual courses too, I think many are following suit as well.

It was said it'll be a couple to few weeks, but as long as you've filed a tax return last year and aren't part of the few groups that are excluded (which @Friday had summarized earlier), you should be getting one. Since you're working, I don't think you don't qualify.

I don't think you don't qualify.

Double negitives. So you think I'd qualify?

I'm not really worried about myself. Was just highlighting that rent is due tomorrow. That it's short of that. <--- for everyone out of work. Sorry for the confusion.

I did do a tax return and don't think I fall in any of the groups. Though that was a bit confusing. Can you (or anyone) summerize those groups that wouldn't qualify? I wanna tell some people asking.
