News Worldwide impact of the novel coronavirus (covid-19)

I don't think those concerns have base nor are topical.

They are also veery oversimplifying what wars are, and the processes needed to declare one.
Totally agree....it's just unnerving that it is becoming a conversation at all. The pandemic seems to be bringing out a lot of isolationism all around the world and many countries (including th US) are in a place where they are facing a scarcity of supplies to test and treat corona. Fighting over resources on a global scale is never a good thing. :(

Yeah, when we were told that this will not happen!

A whole food produce company in Florida is now struggling to stay open thus causing issue with produce going to stores.

ETA: They said they are going to be opening a store front in their warehouse, selling produce directly to the public, instead of stores. Intresting.

Our governor is meeting with the President face to face in the oval office. Not sure why. They said that they dont know what they'll be talking about but I can only imagine its about opening up Florida. I either missed the governor's speech about how that's gonna happen or he didn't make it. The last I heard is "we will open Florida very slowly in a stratgic mannor" but that's it. No specifics except for the beaches.

ETA: Hotels in Florida is using UV light to disinfect. They are in the -77%.

I guess the governor said he wants to take a regional approach. Opening up certian counties that have low COVID-19 numbers. He said that phase 1 won't be too much different then now.

They are warning for an extension of the stay at home order. The current one ends on Friday.

I wouldn't want to be a government official right now....wouldn't be able to suit the masses and make important desisions regarding people's fate (financial, physical health/wellness, and their future)....... No politicians will get out of this unscathed!

I'm getting super sick of conserving toliet paper! 2 sheets and 2 sheets only and that sucks!

I have small rags I found when organizing that I can use if I run out but just getting tired of pee on my hands. Obviously I wash my hands but ewww!

I swear this is on topic to dealing with Covid as people are genuinely coping with toilet paper shortage... If you use cloth diaper wipes (the kinds sold by companies that sell cloth diapers) they are of a size and absorbancy that you don't get pee all over your hands. They wash well/easily and you can use the same ones for a decade.

If you google family cloth you can learn more. :)

Knowing that I'm not dependent on all the TP I can buy I donated a bunch of what I had in storage to people who are not in such a cushy position. (See what I did there? I think I'm punny.)

Yeah, I posted a video early in this thread about family cloth. I found some rags about the size of a sheet of toliet paper, maybe just a tad bigger but they are thicker and smaller then normal wash rags, that I can use but just trying to conserve the toliet paper I have before trying to go to, and wash, cloth stuff.

Def. Still, no TP on the shelves. When I do go out for essentials, if I see cheap TP on the shelves, I pick up two. Have done that twice. So, I have enough for maybe a month now. Hopefully this is over in a month! At least the TP shortages!

ETA: Oh, and my tiny keychain size of hand sanitizer, all that I have, is in the car and because its in Florida heat in the car, it got water thin but I didnt thnk of that, went to the drive through phamacy and dumped half of the bottle in my hand by accident. Grrrr!

About 25% of cars are back on the road. Still no traffic though. 5 to 6 pm is normal bumper to bumper and no traffic so maybe 15% more cars? More cars for sure though.

Something I'm really loving atm is the random expressions of gratitude everywhere.

Notes hanging off letterboxes thanking posties, notes posted on the grocery store windows thanking retail staff, chalk messages scrawled on footpaths thanking health workers, people calling the radio to randomly thank someone or a group of people. Even politicians thanking us in press conferences for the vast majority of the population doing the right thing.

Every time I see or hear that, I love it. Totally new thing to become a social norm - random expressions of gratitude. How cool is it that many humans, despite everything, are still thinking like that!?

My tired 4 days of 13 hour shifts in a row ass literally wanted to cry at every NHS thank you note I passed on my way home. I can't tell if I appreciate it or hate my overly emotional self right now ??

I did get fairy lights posted to me for "nurse Chrissy" though so yay.

So busy here now you’d think lockdown and covid never happened. Which is both crazy and concerning.
The ATM yesterday - people totally ignoring the tape on the floor and standing centimetres away from you.
Er, no thanks, no cash for me then :hilarious:
I am betting on another wave in a couple of weeks at this rate. Stupidity.

Not on topic, actually. It's been covered repeatedly in this thread.

@lostforgottensoul - it might have been on-topic if you actually needed help...but you don't, as you said - you've already posted about family cloth on this thread.

Personal inconveniences don't belong here. If you are having trouble coping and need support or feedback, start a thread.

Venting can go in a diary.

Not trying to push back at all but I am very confused at this point. What, exactly, belongs here? It would really be nice to know.

The opening thread says:

This is a thread to discuss the worldwide impact the of novel coronavirus (covid-19) and related panic/disruption. It's a place to discuss what is happening around the world, how it may be impacting you and/or how you are coping with it (or not.)

* bolded for emphasis

This is all impact.

This thread has been redefined (it seems to me anyway) several times.

@lostforgottensoul - it might have been on-topic if you actually needed help

But that's not true either. I needed help with freezing milk due to Covid-19 and it got moved. I am not complaining or arguing nor do I care what thread that's in or where its at in the forum and certianly not trying to get thread banned. It just would he helpful to re-denine what "belongs here". Cause at this point, I am just throwing stuff out there hoping it will be on topic but I am very confused at what the topic is at this point if not direct impact of Covid-19 (questions or not...as many have been posting what its like where they live = not questions. Which, again, is confusing).
