Photos Of Nature Where You Live

I have coyotes too!! I see them all the time, they are not very shy. They lay on the sidewalks. There's also not very many people up here, and everyone feeds the wildlife so they're pretty tame. The coyotes sound like howler monkies when they're playing, it's spooky. I also have three skunks, a pack of wolves, two bluejays, ducks, Canadian geese, moose, deer, wolverines and all the little ferret critters back there too. There's a huge marsh and then one of the mine headframes, then forest all the way to the arctic. We're sub-tundra here, it's very pretty but I wish the trees were taller like the other photos on here.

And great horned owls! Amazing! My friend said she saw one while she was driving, and swore the wing span was as big as her car :) Get a pic for us!

Neat photos Ayesha. You are in Texas right? I never think of mountains there at all.

Yes, James, that second to last photo shows how big the trees are there. and those were small compared to some of the forest we rode thru. ;o)

Even a few hours riding in the forest truly is a mini vacation. It always amazes me how relaxed it makes me. Tired, sore....but so relaxed.

Daisy_May...those are phenomenal photos! Your home is absolutely beautiful! A bear in your backyard....That is soooo cool, though I must admit that I'd be a little anxious walking by him with pizza too!

We have a local cougar that had her cubs in a shed next to our property. She growled at me once when I was bringing one of my horses out from the lower pasture. Couldn't understand why she growled instead of attacking until I learned about her cubs. Scared the beegebies out of me. I love the coyotes howling at night, don't love that they kill our pygmy goats though >;(

Wow Iam, cougars trump basically everything we have here! There are always rumours of cougar sightings, but I for one doubt them. We have lynx and bobcats, and I'm sure we have the very odd cougar, but I really doubt they would come anywhere near the town with the amount of bush and rabbits and partridge to hunt out there.

And growling at you!!!!!!! That would terrify me. Of course I am scared of my own shadow, but cougars are lions! Bears I can handle, they are after garbage and timid, the average is 250lbs, the big ones are only 400lbs. All black bears, no grizzlies or anything. Large wild cats are another story! Thank you, I love where I live, I will be sad to go, but it will always be in my heart and I am moving to the Rockies, so a new playground--hopefully see a cougar myself!

These are a few pics of the west coast of the UK we visited yesterday. This is where we intend to move to as soon as we are able to. They are not very good as they were taken on my phone, which is a bit out dated.

The first looks North up the coast, the second south and the third is out across the bay. The tide is out, way out, at this part of the coast the sea goes out for miles. As you can see from these, it is a very quiet and almos desolate spot at times. But that is just part of what we are looking for, behind us, as these were taken, there are a few fields and a coastal village.

I love how open & green it is Amethist! How wonderful to have goals set before you ;o)

When do you move Daisy_May? I am sure that you will miss your home, but the Rockies.....WOW!!!! You will no doubt see cougar. I have grown up around cougars. They rarely stalk people here as there are so many deer and other creatures to hunt. Although I did hear that this particular cougar was tracking kids as they were sledding a couple of winters ago. The town I live in has made national news at time because of the number of cougar here. We have bobcats and fox too which I have sighted them on occassion. They are always on the run though so can't get pictures.

Ahhh..so that is where Pepperdine comes in! I wondered. Both areas are beautiful!

Such pretty photos from everywhere! Thank you! There are some awfully GOOD people with a camera here, too. One either has an eye or just does not- I do not, even with a decent camera but was thinking about this thread while working outside today. The first is out the side door- the trees then just go for miles before there's another house. The creek is below the house, it's what one hears when going to sleep at night. There's a little pond between the house and creek-that's the trees over it, where we throw fish when we catch some in the hopes of keeping the things but never seem to find them again. That's T.J., the dog, making his feet muddy, which I forgot when we came in and now have to go load up the carpet scrubber. Then-back to work outside. One can do it all day, this time of year.

I hope this thread keeps going. I love what Arista said about a mini vacation for the eyes- so true!

These pics were taken last weekend, our Thanksgiving.. it was 20+ Celcieus, we usually have snow by now!!! The pic on the right is the bear that lives in my backyard, who I have to walk by every night for the past two months. He doesn't bother anybody, but I hate carrying pizza by him.

WOW Daisy, a bear in your back yard, the best i ever get in mine is an urban fox or a hedgehog!!

Your pictures are beautiful. x
