Not sure exactly where to post this but this seemed the most appropriate place.

We tried to take a little holiday yesterday. We had a lovely day swimming and just being together away from everyone at the hotel. Not too far from town.

I couldnt't sleep (not a big shock). Sometimes when I try to fall asleep I feel itchy from my anxiety, now I think I remember why. At about 2:30 a.m. I was getting even itchier. I thought maybe I was breaking out in hives. Got up to use the restroom, looked at my foot. I had welts everywhere. I went back into the bed and turned the lights on. BEDBUGS! They were crawling all over the bed I had just been laying in. I woke everyone up shouting bedbugs! Needless to say we did not finish our little family vacation and my husband drove us an hour and a half all the way home. I was a wreck the whole way.

They didn't bite my husband or kids. I am bitten at least ten times. It brought back something for me though. When I was a kid visiting my dad during the summer, he had gotten a mattress for me from a friend of his. It was infested with something. He continued to have me sleep in it though. I remember trying to fall asleep feeling like something was crawling all over me. It was. I would wake up with big blisters from where I had been bitten. I think it was chiggers or fleas.

Why did he let me sleep in that bed?? I feel like things are still crawling on me.

Leaving soon to go wash everything we took with us at the laundromat.

Also the radiation cloud arrived today. It is supposed to be 5000 feet above us still but it is bugging me. Gave the kids and hubby immune boosters and a multiple daily vitamin. It feels so weird to just sit here and let the nuclear fall out just blow in. No one else seems too upset about it so of course I feel like a paranoid freak again. What a spring break...I really just want to go fishing.

Well I guess it's not a flash back but it feels like a flashback to that awful flea bitten summer though.

(((Phaed))) No one got bit but you. Glad you're taking precautions and using a laundromat. I deffinitely would freak too. I'm sorry that your holiday was derailed. It is easy to see, having had that experience as a child, why this would have bothered you.

You are not a paranoid freak. You're doing the right things.

Thanks Albatross. Yeah I am so glad my kids and husband did not get bit. It has always been that way for me. I get chewed up. One time we had ants get in threw the wall in the middle of the night and my son was a baby. My late husband, my son and I were all sleeping in the same bed. I was bit several times and they didn't get bit at all. I guess I'm tastier than them. :giggle:
We saw the bugs everywhere too. The hotel staff trapped one to show his boss. That was kind of a relief to know that there was really something there, we could never see what bugs were biting me when I was a kid. :O_o:

I am the same way... haven't had a run in with bed bugs yet though. My husband says it's my blood type (A). Here in the south I can say that dog flies, yellow flies, chiggers, "no see ums" (gnats), fleas and mosquitoes bother me no end. I say we BOTH just go fishing (I have a vintage ultralight with titanium eyes that's never been wet and I've had it for four years now... maybe it's time, eh?).

I think you definitely need to get out and use that awesome pole! Then take pics of your beautiful catch and post them. In Arizona we never really catch too much so I can live vicariously through you. :)
