Both Feet On The Ground

Thank you. I'm trying to do that.
I rode my bike into the city with my husband some days ago, we sat in a café, ate some cake and rode back. It was an uneventful trip and a good relationship thingie because my husband only agreed to it so I could practice my people skills (he doesn't like the city). I went grocery shopping with him some days later, too. I was reasonably relaxed the whole time.
So, the progress made seems to be sticking for now.
Sunday will be another test/practice for me, since there's a barbecue planned with my in-laws.

So, my second round of DBT finished early because the T there and I decided that I reached my therapy goal some days before the max length of my stay was reached.

I managed to sit relatively calmly in a chair circle with ~10 other people, both my feet on the ground the whole time. I felt no panic, just misery and a bit of crampiness in the stomach region. That's acceptable in my book and I am therefore fit to go into in-patient treatment for my trauma.

I got a call today that I can come in on tuesday next week o.o I think I'll make a thread in the Therapy subforum (or in ChitChat? I'm not sure) where I'll try to keep you updated about what's happening during my treatment.

Now use that experience you have physically embedded into your brain, and now go do it again, using your experience to reinforce against any negative thoughts.

Sh*t, we do it Anthony, but it isn't easy. It is a constant fight of logic over fear and sometimes/most of the time it is so exhausting. I know we can't give in BUT sometimes it is tempting.

Sh*t keeps coming back at us, a simple question, will it get easier? In the grand scale of life, I haven't had PTSD as a diagnosis for long, I thought we had cleared major target but back it comes with a sting in the tail.

(((FoN)))

You are awesome.

Who is we KP? If you're going to refer to yourself, one part of PTSD healing is taking responsibility for yourself, which means you must get used to using "I" "me", etc... specific terms that related only to you, instead of subconsciously trying to share experiences with others who you cannot speak on behalf of.

Just food for thought to add into this equation for healing PTSD. Ownership!

I hate and love the way you cut through the crap.

It is hard for me, me, me. OK I've been pushing myself in some things etc driving and I've come so far. In other ways it is harder for me. PTSD arrived as a result of a car crash. I thought OK deal with that, clear targets, get back driving and all will be OK. God, what a moron I am. It is so much deeper.

I will take ownership.
